  • I CAN'T WAIT TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF RYU WITH CASSHAN.

Do not let me down Japan.
  • Yes, that Tatsunoko, you know, the studio behind TV anime...Westerners know as Robotech.

    You fucking what?

PS I thought that Big West was responsible for Macross? At least, if you ask them that's what they'll tell you. Hngh, hngh, hngh.
  • I can't wait for this game to never get released in the US!

But it still had me at, 'Gatchman and Casshan in a 2D fighter.'
  • This could be the most amazing fighting game we'll never play, considering the titles are owned by people all over the US and it would be a nightmare to get it licensed here. Importers here we come!
  • You had me at "Capcom vs"

ALSO HOLY SHIT SAMURAI PIZZA CATS
  • Think of it, Stig in a Mospeada calling in Captain Tylor on the Soyokaze to smash up Ryu and Tekkaman Blade!

    SWEEET!
  • K, Macross was designed by Studio Nue and animated by Artland. Big West are the producers and eat all the money, Tatsunoko co-produced because they ran out of money or whatever and Tatsunoko has international distribution rights. All clear?
  • So Macross won't be in this game at all, probably.
  • Prolly not.
  • It wouldn't have really worked, though. The scale differences would have made it too weird. "MILIA ATTAKKU!" *STOMP* *TWIST*
  • There won't be any Mospeada either. Unless Capcom persuades them to use obscure characters.
  • Maybe we'll see some people from Orguss, riding those jet-motorcycles that make them stick their butts up into the air.
  • Why would you even care about Macross or Orguss when you have the possibility of getting characters from Superbook?
    OH SUPERBOOK
BUT I WAS AFRAID TO LOOK
  • SUPERBOOK! I had to watch that in crappy parochial school as a kid.
  • I liked The Flying House better :saucy:
This thought me not to re write history even before Doctor Who
I gotta say that the second season of SUPERBOOK was just plain weird :?:
I mean a book and a computer and what is up with the dog :? They jumped the shark for me after that one.
  • Well, Flying House was just a Superbook spinoff.
  • [quote="RobotBastard"]Maybe we'll see some people from Orguss, riding those jet-motorcycles that make them stick their butts up into the air.

Orguss is about as far removed from Tatsunoko as you can get. That one was Big West and Tokyo Movie Shinsha.
  • Yeah, Tatsunoko had nothing to do with Orguss.
  • [quote="karaokeninja"]Well, Flying House was just a Superbook spinoff.
    How?
They not even had the same robot
  • [quote="Dave"]I CAN'T WAIT TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF RYU WITH CASSHAN.

You can already do that with Mugen. Rikard made a Casshan character for Mugen a while back. You can even use Friender in some of his moves. The Mugen character is named like the Italian version of Casshan - Kyashan. I'm sure a youtube search for Kyashan Mugen should come up with something since there's only about a billion Mugen videos on there now.
  • Fuck Mugen.
  • [quote="Dave"]Fuck Mugen.

:( I like Mugen. I realize there are a lot of broken characters out there, but most of them can be fixed by taking 10 seconds to change their stats. The ones that can't be fixed like that due to other reasons (like decreased number of frames in moves) I simply don't put in my game. My main complaint with Mugen isn't the system itself but the community. Mugen has one the most tight-assed, douche-baggy, narcissistic communities in the universe. That was what kinda drove me out of the whole thing. I still grab new characters from time to time, but I basically only do it via sites like Esnips where you don't have to deal with any of the assholes.
  • I have no interest in homebrew fighting games, really. Especially not ones that you have to sit at a computer to play, and play by yourself.

Why doesn't Street Fighter 4 look like this?
  • Uh because Flying House was made by all the same people as Superbook and had (evil Christian right crazy) Pat Robertson behind it just like Superbook and was created as an expansion of the same concept so they could continue to spread god throughout the heathen asian world?
  • I went to a crazy christian school from kindergarden to fourth grade. Everyone was PROUD of this.
  • That's not what I was W-Hatting.
  • What are you w-hatting?
  • [quote="karaokeninja"]I went to a crazy christian school from kindergarden to fourth grade.

<--First through eighth here, and it officially sucked ass.

But you kinda lost me here, what does Pat Robertson have to do with anything?

EDIT: Oh...Pat Robertson backed Superbook and The Flying House to convert those backwards asians, I got it now.
  • [quote="Dave"]http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1215298_1124.html
I'm not sure why, but for some reason I assumed this game was going to be 2D. My enthusiasm is somewhat dampened now. The 2D screenshots I was seeing in my head looked so promising...
  • I think the game will play in 2D, as with the newest street fighter. The inclusion of Casshan fills me with a burning desire to play this game. Everybody is going to chopped. EVERYBODY.
  • Yeah, its a "2.5-D" fighter, where the gameplay is 2-D, and the models are 3-D. I gotta say, I really wish it was sprites, but I guess I'll have the new King of Fighters for that.
  • Sorry, yeah. By 2D, I meant hand drawn sprites. Basically I was picturing "Marvel vs. Capcom," except with Tatsunoko instead of Marvel characters.
  • I think that's splitting hairs, at least in regards to this game. Those models look amazing, easily as cool as sprites would. We haven't seen them in action, but so far so good.

If only it was coming out on PS2, then I could import it. :?

Speaking for myself, I'll have to disagree. There's a certain appeal that well animated sprites possess that I have yet to see any 3D game completely capture. I'm not saying sprites are inherently better, it's just an aesthetic I prefer sometimes. Especially in a game like this, with such strong roots in hand drawn animation.

We haven't seen them in action, but so far so good.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing it in motion.
  • You are right Karaoke, but I still liked the spanish version only because it was not preachy. I guess Pat Robertson does not know Spanish.
  • This game to be released stateside.

  • I had an argument with a guy who modded his Wii for import games and the only two reasons why I'd say it'd be worth modding is for this and Captain Rainbow. One less now.

Also I predict this game will bomb in the US. Core gamers won't buy it because they don't buy anything on the Wii, and I'm sure the mainstream gamer isn't salivating at the notion of playing as Viewtiful Joe/Ken the Eagle fighting Gold Lightan.

Having said that, I'm happy its coming out. It'd be cool if they added a few more characters (say Speed Racer, Jill Valentine, Blade from Tekkaman Blade, Guile) for the US considering the roster is a little thin especially considering the American audience will be familar with about five of these characters.

Wasn't Fatal Frame 4 supposedly not coming over here? I don't know why that would be the case, but I believe that's the official position.

Yeah, it would be cool, but I doubt there's much incentive in spending money to update a game no one will buy, and isn't that popular among fighting game enthusiasts anyway. It's possible that it could slowly unseat MvC2 among "that" crowd, but who knows (or cares). TvC is at least a fighting game rather than some incoherent mess of assists, but in a time of SF4/BlazBlue/KOFXI, I think a game that is "pretty cool" will fall by the wayside in favor of games that are top shelf.
  • I'm glad I have a roommate with a wii now. This and Punch Out almost makes me want a wii of my own.
  • FUCK SUPERBOOK!

    it's all about
    FLYING HOUSE

    i don't care what you say :x
  • [quote="Jerry the 5th"]FUCK SUPERBOOK!

You are right the super book is a work of fiction. I know for a fact that the flying house is more scientific, I mean it has a mad scientist on it :saucy:
  • Christopher Lloyd made it a universal truth that time travel is only cool if you have a time traveling vehicle in this case A HOUSE.

And yes chronocross, it is back by REAL SCIENCE.
