Capcom learns to count to 4 hurrrr SF4 thread
  • Yeah man, I'm still playing it. It's just that everything I have to say about it now would be a little too geeky even for here, so I'm not talking about it anymore.

Unless y'all really want to talk about frame advantages/disadvantages and the like...
  • I'm maining Cammy, and it sucks. You basically have to be psychic and never mess up.

Speaking of frame advantage, look at Sakura. All the crap she can do that is perfectly safe is crazy. When did she get this good?
  • She's not the same 16-year-old girl you once knew.

I'm more surprised at how much I'm enjoying playing as Zangeif. I enjoyed playing as Sakura in her Vs incarnations, but Zangeif is a total beast in this game. He can take so much damage and his EX spinning piledrivers are brutal. He's also got awesome priority too with his grab attacks. His range even seems better now that you've got a blob like Rufus in there. This game is so much fun.

On a different note, does anyone else get a Bollywood vibe from the opening song?

Maybe Dan's a better trainer than he is a fighter. It's like they say, "Those that can, do; those that can't, teach."
  • Sakura's best stuff has it's disadvantages. The EX tornado kick into dragon punch has proven my undoing on many occasions. That final kick is so easy to focus guard.
  • DO I have to have an X-Box gold account to play this multi-player over Xbox live? I can only assume yes, but figured I would ask.
  • Awesome. My projection tv's lamp blew out today. So no Street Fighter for over a week!
  • Your TV is doing you a favor.
  • [quote="Feddy"]DO I have to have an X-Box gold account to play this multi-player over Xbox live? I can only assume yes, but figured I would ask.

yes, you need a gold account
  • Man, screw Cammy. I'm switching to Chun-li so I don't have to become psychic and perfect just to get some damage.
  • This website is a great way to watch videos on certain matchups against characters that you are having trouble with. It has helped raise my super dynamic cooking abilities (read: idiotic playing) quite a bit, hopefully it can be of worth to someone here as well!
  • Hot stuff.
  • [quote="The Joel"]Hot stuff.

Rufus winning that tournament made me very sad. I was screaming for honda that whole time.
  • The end of the ryu vs ryu blew my mind.
  • Anyone still playing this? I know I played with Joel the other night....
but the experience was either made better or ruined by me attempting to talk to a girl on the phone at the same time. With Joel yelling into my ear every time that I said something wrong.....

Probably my favorite quote of the night....

Girl: What is more important, video games or me?
Me: Of course you are more important........ but I still want to play video games...
Joel: No you idiot, that's the wrong thing to say, you never say that!

    good times.
  • Diago is the man.

Ryu vs Dhalsim was the best match in my opinion.
  • Didn't know Joel was such a cock blocker.
  • Whenever I play against you malachi I can't hear a freakin thing you say, I have to turn my tv volume way the hell up to hear your voice messages even. Is there some setting I'm missing to turn up just voice chat volume?

voice chat has never come out of my television very loudly.... so i usually use a headset. I have never really thought about it though..

    da truth
  • I love the new tourney mode.
  • I wish I understood what was happening in tourney mode. And why I can't have friend tournaments or lobbys like Soul Calibur
  • This game does need lobbies pretty bad.

Also, it took me a second to wrap my head around how tourney mode works. It's basically a bracketless tournament: you enter based on your skill ranking, as you win, you progress to the next round. The tournament mode will match people in the 1st, 2nd, semi-final, finals accordingly; you can only play someone at the same round of the tournament as you. If you lose in an early round, you get knocked out, and start over at 1st round. If you lose in the semi-finals/finals you place 1st-3rd, get points for it, and start over. Once you advance in rank by winning enough tournaments, it puts you in the next harder class of tournaments.

Again, a lot of internet griping "OMG this is so ghey," but it's actually a pretty ingenious idea: a tournament mode where no one is forced to wait around for their match, and you can refuse a match with someone with a bad connection.
  • Ok, so the game is on sale on Best Buy, it is going for 39.99 :saucy:
  • Hey guys, I was wondering if I should wait for SF 4 to be release for the PC?
  • Why would you do that?
  • [quote="Dave"]Why would you do that?
    Because I am a noob :(
  • If you have the ability to play this game on anything that is not a computer, you should not play it on a computer.
  • Yeah I would play it on a DS before a PC that is the only thing that keeps me away from MUGEN. Fighting games and PCs do not coexist in the world I live in.
  • My fingers, they hurt :!:
  • So I've been playing Abel and it's pretty fun. It's impossible to play him on a laggy connection though. The fact that I have played so many laggy games makes me wonder why people choose to interupt me if they see the connection sucks. I know I can turn it off but playing other people is why I turn the game on. To all the Ken's I just got done playing with mixed success: even if you won, you suck at hitting B and searching for a better game.
  • I suck, I need practice. If anyone wants to add to to their friends in a PS3 I am chronocross_xp :saucy:
  • I'll send you an invite when I log on chrono Im in need of practice as well my psn is: Creaty
  • [quote="Creaty"]I'll send you an invite when I log on chrono Im in need of practice as well my psn is: Creaty
    I added you yesterday :D
  • Good games last night to Joel. I had some friends over, so you were playing against them for the most part, I didn't suddenly get good with Ryu and Cammy and Balrog. They're better than me for the most part, but you definitely held your own with Abel, good stuff.
  • I watched some Abel vids that expanded my horizons. I really need to learn to EX cancel Change Direction reliably. It's the gateway to everything Abel has and without it I'm not really that much of a threat.

Have you seen the vids of Saqs playing as Rose? Good stuff.
  • I just got via GameFly(again) and I'm really liking Fei Long. Unfortunately I am also quite mediocre. I need to be educated on these things.
Also, I find hard to get a good arcade game going without being interrupted before the first match even begins.
  • You can edit your status by hitting the right bumper, I think. If you see me sign into live I'm going to be playing in about 30 seconds.
  • I've been playing with Railith lately.... last night we were about even on wins... but tonight i think i won like 2 out of 10 i was about to put another controller through the wall.. i dont know what was going on..

I still play this online more than anything else.. if you see me online playing anything. send me a message and i will switch over to SF4.
  • :D
I still need to work on my Blanka and Ryu.

My mike is broken, and I haven't had a reason to get a replacement yet. That's why I don't say anything on live.
  • I will only play as Blanka now that I have his safari garb.
  • man, that difficulty bug is the biggest piece of bullshit ever.
EDIT: I've also found it to be virtually impossible for me to Fei Long's diagonal half-circle forward special on a controller.
  • It's not that bad. The timing on all the moves in this game is pretty tight. Except for shoryuken. That just happens sometimes.
  • It's the shortcuts. Double tap down forward + punch does shoryuken. Which is great until it comes out by accident. Also, if I end up hitting two down forward/down back while doing Bison's Ultra, the teleport takes precedence, and teleport comes out instead of Ultra. Joel has probably noticed some inexplicable teleports on my part. But I've seen matches in tournaments lost that way at the highest levels, too.
  • Every time I throw falling sky it's a failed quarter circle. Then again, most of the things I do are a failed quarter circle.
  • The problem is my timing, I'm either doing it to soon and doing a forward kick or doing to late and ending up with a jump kick. Since I've chosen Fei Long, most of my failed quarter circle forwards just end up being incomplete punch combos although I can pretty much throw out shoryukens on command. I feel like I need to Focus Attack Dash Canceling down.
  • PC version drops next week. In case you were wondering, cross-platform play is not possible.

Yea, it's tricky, the consistency and timing with quarter circle are what kept me from learning to play Yang in SF3. Fei Long is pretty solid as long as you can get those shoryukens in response and also that weird hoppy jump kick to lock them down. Also dash->command throw seems pretty good if you can get it on an unsuspecting opponent trying to turtle.
