Who the hell is Cogswell Pepperbox?
  • So I used the search function on the forums and google'd it, and I have no idea who this Cogswell fellow is. I'm still going through the older episodes (I'm at August '07 currently) and every few episodes some high-pitched whiny voice appears as Cogswell Pepperbox. Right now the only thing I know is that this is also the name of a sweet looking 19th century revolver. Probably not what your referring to.

Also as a side note, why all the hate for Tanaka? Every few episodes Dave or Joel yell at this unknown 'Tanaka', who I think is supposed to represent Japan or a stereotypical animator.

Awesome podcast, I get some laughs out of every episode.
  • Joel/P.T. Chapman

    I OBJECT
  • Tanaka is just a name used for a random Japanese person who usually either fails or gets killed
  • to be more specific, Cogswell Pepperbox is the personification of every pretentious internet douche bag around.

Isn't everyone on the internet a pretentious douche bag?

I wish Joel would Resurect Cogswell
  • Yes but Cogswell only appears for particularly egregious violations

like using 3words with more than 8 letters in a row? At least you didn't use Ludonarrative.
  • Sorry about that I'm writing a history paper, I'm in long words to fill out the last page mode.
  • You guys seriously need to resurrect Rembrandt Q. Funningswah from so many years past.
    Joel's accent was hilarious.
  • The Cogswell virus has passed from Joel to Paul Chapman. It's like VENOM. Cogswell has found a NEW HOST.
  • Joel doesn't wanna do it anymore. Personally, I think Joel does Cogswell better -- though Paul's usage during Valiant Denim was admirable.
  • Joel needs to just do his Japanese Engrish voice from Hanabi Gonna Brow Up for an entire episode. If I hadn't found out he was in Jail Bait porno then I would be totally convinced that his last name was Tanaka.
  • I hear that Cogswell's turn-ons include Queensberry rules boxing, Merriam-Webster's unabridged dictionary, and needlessly debating semantics.
  • The problem with Cogswell was that he was a fluke. I haven't been able to recreate his voice to my liking since the first time it was used. I also can't remember which podcast that was in. I always just search for Cthulu only to realize it was like 3 weeks later.
  • When I first heard the name, I thought you were trying to do an impression of the clock from Beauty and the Beast. Then I remembered his name was Cogsworth.

Cogswell has NOT found a new host, he is still deep in joel's soul.
  • "DELIGHTFUL :o "
    11/19/05 - Death to Slimes
  • They should give Cogswell the Valiant Denim treatment. I'd love listening to a radioplay of his adventures.

I'm thinking a 1920's noir detective show entitled "Get Pepperbox!" where he's called in to solve a series of bizarre tentacle-related deaths.
  • I relistened to that episode and rememberd I was just ripping off the foppish guys from SNL. Perhaps Cogswell will return in his original form.

Lucius and Fagan! "And I shall watch my Najica, as per usual, BARE-ASSED NAKED."
  • The persona in my mind that I have created for Mr. Henry Cogswell (of course with a monocle)listening to a personal favorite Wolfgang Bauer Vinyl.

  • I like to think Coswell is out in the world beating sense into film students and other people prone to pretentiousness. I imagine him wearing a 3 peice pinstipe suit and top hat maybe even a cane. he may use the cane for his sense beatting.

I sort of imagine him as an over-educated, academic hipster who sips a chai latte by himself in the corner of a student life center, browsing various internet fora on his macbook and occasionally breaking out in self-righteous laughter when he sees a malformed argument or an opinion of someone slightly less educated than him.
  • And he is a whole thirteen and a half years old.
  • more like 23, with his Blu-tooth headset and fedora

Ever since valiant denim all I can imagine him as is Professor Akage's talking parrot.
  • Isn't he the first one to look for One Eyed Willies treasure in The Goonies?

Dave, THE CAT'S OUTTA THE BAG! :saucy:
  • It was only a matter of time before someone learned how to use Google...
  • Yeah, that's the gun from Clue.
  • I was almost tempted to buy that, but I'd be afraid that a 40 dollar gun would be unsafe to use. And if the guns on that site don't actually work, there would be no point to buying it anyway.
