Well I just happened to buy a bootlegged season of 24 for my 24 hour 24 marathon with my friends. I literally walked by 10-ish of those shady DVD stores before I realized you have to ask them for English shows. The Chinese lady told me to come back in 10 minutes. When I came back, a little girl came running up to us with the DVDs .

But back to the original question, yes I'm across the street from that church. You're from Markham too?

Well there has actually been 2 crackdowns at Pacific Mall to date, where boxes of DVDs and other goods were taken away via the cops. However, this does not seem to deter the will of the bootleggers. Literally the next day, all the DVD stores and those video game stores that modify consoles and sell $5-10 games to go along with those consoles, were back in business. This was maybe a 2-4 years back, I don't remember.

All I know my friend complained that the different places he checked out at Pacific Mall for modifying his Wii were charging too much, so he went to Market Village instead to get it modified. And yes, it's safe to assume that a lot of those stores have those real games just for display. If not, expect a different shop there the next time you visit because their demographic (people who want real games) is at EB games or Best Buy, and not Pacific Mall.

I believe the secret Chinese code is to be Chinese, or know someone who is Chinese (not necessarily from Hong Kong, but ideally).

I'm about 16 episodes in and it's pretty much Akagi set to baseball. No characters, no plot, yet I enjoy watching it. Go fig.
