This is just a guess, but I imagine it has something to do with scrolling to the right and killing skeletons until they drop things which you then equip.
[quote="Space Pope 3000"]A friend in my cinema class was playing this today. It looks freaking awesome. He was stuck on the crab boss all class. Tell him to use the hammer!
Spoiler:
THE HAMMER BEATS THE CRAB!
... actually, it doesn't. The CRAB'S true weakness is so much better than that.
I'm really hating the Frankenstein boss. I need to look on Gamefaqs to see how many hit points he has, because I keep beating the crap out of him, and he won't die. It doesn't help that his attacks do at least 50 damage a pop, with his seismic wave doing around 150. Its this much damage and I'm going up with about a 57 armor. I've hit him with the Scythe Union 8 or 9 times at 160 a pop, along with a lot of regular scything (about 75 damage each), and he still won't die.
P.S. Don't try lightning on him, it does about 2 damage a hit.
This is way harder than the last couple castlevanias I played, I like it. I'm currently stuck pretty bad on the first boss past the fake ending, though

Anyone tried out Albus Mode? It has taught me why there were no automatic guns in Portrait of Ruin despite taking place during WWII. As in, this game is so easy with a machine gun!
