Steam Sale Summer 2012: Bout Time!
  • Apparently it's a sort of metroidvania game. It seems pretty interesting, I may get it...
  • I didn't even think to buy the Sega Bundle. The only of the total war games I don't own is Medieval 2. I loved the original Shogun game, so I'm kinda excited for this one.
  • Heard it was kind of okay. I passed on it when it was in an Indie Bundle. Will maybe get it now... really like Metroid games.
  • deus ex here i come. anyone play KRATER sos? If so is it worth picking up
  • I was going to get it but the consensus is that it needs more content. There is potential for it to be good but there isn't enough yet.
  • So your goign to laugh but I bought the 4 pack of "A valley without Wind" and i defientely already owned it. So I will have at least 1 extra copy, maybe more depending on how many of my friends actually want to play it.
  • Wait, you can buy a 4 pack and already own the game? I tried to do that with Plain Sight and it wouldn't let me...
  • Finally I can pick up Far Cry 2, haven't played it in forever. $2.50 is a perfect price.
  • I'll take one of those if you're just giving the spares away. You can have my spare copy of Frozen Synapse if you're one of the few people that hasn't already been given that game. Should be under finiteblank on steam.
  • Final conclusion: The Binding of Isaac is tough but fair. A+++++, will play again tonight.

Edit: Just got the Duke of Flies joke. Ha!
  • Binding of Isaac is the bomb. It is especially the bomb for like $.75
  • Finally I can pick up Far Cry 2, haven't played it in forever. $2.50 is a perfect price.

    Dangit! I paid $6.50 like a sucker.
  • Yep, I've had Issac in my library for like a year now, I either got it in one of the sales or maybe an Indie Bundle? Either way I hadn't really touched it but picked up the DLC when it was on sale and gave it another shot and have become addicted. My most played game from this sale is one I've already owned for a long time.
  • Shadow Planet: The term "Metroidvania" describes it perfectly. I liked it. The art is by the guy who did Insanely Twisted Shadow Puppets (which I'd never heard of either before I played this game.)

There's a part about two-thirds of the way through that damn near made me jump out of the chair the first time it happened. Even after I knew it was coming there was a big fear-factor to doing it.
  • Capsized is in the indie bundle, it's pretty fun for $3.40
  • did anyone happen to pick up dead island that wants to play some multiplayer? steam-molloygm

I'll kill some zambies with you. I searched for molloygm on steam but it said no profles found? I'm Davedave on steam, I'm in the Fast Karate group, hit me up if you want to co-op.
  • So I got Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and it's fun so far. Kind of bummed out about the windows live stuff, but I can deal with it. I also got Oblivion as it just went on sale.

I almost did that awhile back.
  • Sega bundle bought! It has been tempting me with all the Golden Axes, the ones I never had enough dollars to finish in the arcade.
  • I really want to pick up Rayman Orgins, but $15 still seems like a high price for it.
  • We played a fair bit of Rayman Origins and it did not blow me away like everyone else. It seemed like yet another platformer with a quirky art style. And the graphics were very good on a technical, but the mish-mosh of aesthetic styles was weird and I didn't really like it. I am slowly coming to the realization that the only platformers I care about anymore are Kirby ones.

If Arma 2 happens on the last day of the sale I will flip my shit and throw a party.

Oh, actually I just checked and it's 40% off. Do we buy it now... I mean it's only $18... or do we wait for something better with the assumption that it will DEFINITELY be on the "best of" sale on the last day.
  • If you're going to pull the trigger on Arma 2, I'd do it tomorrow. They'll have it as part of "yesterday's deals" regardless of whether or not you'll need to buy it.
  • Yeah but its highly unlikely that it will be below 40% right?
  • I imagine it won't be, but you never know!
  • Yeah but its highly unlikely that it will be below 40% right?

I think that is as low as it's getting, which is kinda lame but I got it if for some of that sweet sweet DayZ action.
  • Well, I'm downloading the Arma games now, and I got my friend Deus Ex 3 last night. I am now out of money in my steam wallet. ;-;

I don't think I can hold out any longer. Goddamnit this Steam sale came at a bad time, wasn't expecting to spend $18 for one game. I do want to play DayZ before its a thing of the past though.

Only one thing to do after this sale to recoup my losses: sell my body to scientific study.
  • You're actually getting 2 games kind of with Arma 2: CO, 3 if you count the DayZ mod.

I honestly know next to nothing about Arma 2. All I saw was the video posted on Kotaku of all the dudes on ventrillo playing the game and it looked INSANE.
  • I have no illusions about actually being able to play Arma 2 at all. That game is for crazy people.
  • Just play DayZ then :)
  • Day Z sounds like its for crazy people too though!
  • DayZ seems to be the hardest mod to install in the world, I've been trying to get it to work for hours and the stupid anti-cheat system on my game is apparently not up to date and nothing I'm doing is getting it to work. ;-;
  • Eh? I just had a problem until I ran Steam in admin mode.

At one point there was a problem where the mod was conflicting with arma itself and either straight out breaking or kicking you from any server you joined.
  • I dunno, I haven't had a problem with it. I seem to be having more problems with ArmA itself. In Steam if I choose to play as opposed to launch the game then it says it like can't make some graphics thing. Really weird...

Anyway I just ran the game, downloaded the DayZ auto installer, then followed a guide to set it up on the steam installer and it works pretty well despite the fact that I have no idea what the controls are.
  • Universal Sandbox is on sale. Go give the moon the mass of the sun and then make it blow up.

It's not really a game, but it's fun to mess around in.
  • Blank I sent you an invite and I have a copy of the game for you if you still want it.
  • I was able to get DayZ to work! So far it's fun, and I've found an odd amount of friendly people...
  • I never got your message, but was able to hunt you down through the FK group and sent you a friend request.
  • I think I've decided that Day Z is a game I'll be happier just reading stories about than actually playing.

Best part of this game(?) is putting teapots into orbit.
  • At some point over the last week I seemed to have bought all of the Fallout: New Vegas DLC. So I guess I have a excuse to replay that game now.
  • I know the sale's over, but I'm jones-ing for a PC RPG experience. The Witcher is ten bucks on GOG. Worth it?
  • The only way I could say yes harder would be if I began carving it into my chest with my knife while screaming it.
  • Yeah, if you're cool with prepping before battle and paying attention to your stats and whatnot. It's not really about grinding out a level or anything like that.
  • Don't gotta pre-prep in Witcher 1.

Witcher 1's good, but clunky. 2 is better in pretty much every way (but clunky in different ways).
