  • Since my family is going on a big vacation next week, and I’ll probably end up playing Wii with my nephews I picked up the game Guilty Party because if I have to play that shitty Toy Story game one more time I may have to jam a Wii remote into my brain. I’ve only played it a little bit so far, but so far it seems pretty fun and actually very well written and entertaining even though some of the mini-games were kind of confusing.
  • Been playing way too much Mario Party 9. This is more my wife's doing then it is mine.
  • Picked up Ys: Origin on Steam this past weekend. It's been awhile since I played anything so JRPG-ish, I highly recommend it if you like action RPG, 2D zelda-style games. Also bought the first Thief game off GOG to see what the big deal about it was since I never played it back in the day. It seems cool but I wish I played it back in the day. I am also STILL playing Skyrim after 6 months which is amazing to me.
  • Anyone pick up the new expansion for The Binding of Isaac yet?
  • I did. It's alright. Some of the new enemies and items are dumb but some are kind of cool. One of my biggest issues is that the drop rates for classic items are super, super nerfed. I hardly see vanilla items in game anymore, it's kind of beat.
  • Max Payne 3 arrived in the mail today. Should I be happy or sad?
  • Happy-ish, from what I hear.
  • @Dave, is there any chance of getting a mini boss doors where you and Graz play 2 player QWOP against each other for a few minutes and have a running count of f-bombs?
  • I can only ever make the dude "run" in this crawling sort of fashion, and I just don't have the patience to get more than eight or ten meters. Most frustrating game, I swear.
  • I had not, but now I have, and it is fantastic.
  • Played a bit of Pinball Arcade which reminds me that there is only four days left for the Pinball Arcade push goal to get a digitized version of Star Trek: TNG pinball. They hit the goal for the Twilight Zone pinball but they're pretty far from their push goal of $110,000 (licenses are expensive as fuck for pinball apparently). If you've ever played the Pinball Arcade, this is a great opportunity to help preserve great pinball tables and put out excellent tables for a new generation. Sorry to be very heavy handed with this pitch, but I love pinball.

  • Aw man, my local bowladrome has (or had, it's been awhile) a classic TNG pinball machine, as well as two vintage VirtualOn machines as well. They're like the only two really cool things left (though the Area 51 machines is still there too).
  • Played, and beat, Lollipop Chainsaw. Had enough good parts to make it feel decent, had enough bad parts to make it feel shitty. So, basically, a game with Suda 51's name on it, though a little better than the average. Game is simultaneously super short (5 hours) yet pretty repetitive.
  • How does it compare to Shadows of the Damned? Like, On a scale of 1 to Big Boner.
  • I want to try Lollipop, but I feel too burned out on Suda. I really want to like him, but the only game I found enjoyable was Killer 7. Even No More Heroes bored the crap out of me, and I loved the premise of that.
  • It is way less boring than No More Heroes, but it has Big Boner-esque minigames that make it annoying. Nothing as artificially harder as the big boner, just boring. Percentage-wise it probably has the most successful writing since Killer 7, but it's probably being generous to say the jokes succeed 15% of the time.
  • I've never understood why people like Suda 51 games. Being unique doesn't make something good, more often than not, the games themselves are pretty bad but people try to cling to the quirkiness of the writing.
  • Trying out Kingdoms of Amalur trying to find a change of pace from my massive Tera addiction. Amalur is just...kind of...boring I guess. I keep comparing it to Tera since both are 3rd person action games. Its just that Amalur isn't 1. As good looking, or 2. As strategic with the combat. It also doesn't help that Amalur is a solitary game. Even the color coded loot is boring as most of it is class restricted.
  • What kind of insult is "you are a noob for playing someone really good"?
  • Is a LoL type of insult.
  • That dude was trying to troll. He was just mad because he got wrecked.
  • I once had an Irelia go 0-5 in lane, snowball me and then complain about Riven being OP. It's just another excuse they use to convince themselves they aren't bad.
  • Home sick for a couple of days, so I scroll through the demos on XBL. Oh Minecraft, people were talking about that here one time, right? Half an hour later I paid for it and now I'm obsessed. And I hate creepers.

Weird, I fell into a Minecraft hole this weekend. Its so...relaxing.
  • I found it best to just turn monsters off. There's nothing more irritating than building a house and then you turn around to see that there's a green penis exploding. Now you have no porch and you are sad.
  • Monsters are fine but creepers are just the worst.
  • I like the monsters. They keep me on my toes. Creepers always make me jump out of my skin and then get upset when I realize what they've destroyed. A CREEPER KILLED MY DOG.
  • I guess I'm fine with most, but those Creepers. The worst was when I build my house over a quarry and used glass to make the floor to see all the way down. You can take a guess as to what happened.
  • We built a massive underground tunnel so we could have a paranoid 1950s fallout shelter and sealed all the entrances, but creepers and zombies keep getting in somehow. Nooo! Our precious bodily fluids!
  • Make sure you have enough light down there. Monsters spawn in the dark.
  • Ohhhhhh! So we need lots of torches? Thanks! That was driving me nuts.
  • I spent my sunday playing through and beating Binary Domain because Vinny mentioned that he beat it in one sitting on the bombcast. Dave warned me about the almost totally okay reveal regarding the villain's motives and how everyone takes a leave of common sense beyond believability. It's really kind of fucking crazy but the game was still good despite that. Another thing that's beyond believability is that anyone in the world would still say Japs over 100 years later. I was also not a huge fan of the main character calling the chinese agent rice paddy farm girl, I don't think that's in any way comparable to "yankee".

Beyond my complaints about the characters, I actually really liked how well integrated their dialogue was, every cutscene and moment in-game actually seemed to reflect which team members I chose to bring with me. The first time you get to choose your teammates, I ended up picking the two women, partially because I wasn't entirely sure if I was supposed to be the rearguard like your commanding officer wants or taking point. I went up going half and half, picking the girl with the sniper rifle and then deciding I should get the one with the shotgun too in case I really was going to be taking point. Shotgun lady immediately asks why I chose them and sniper girl is all like isn't it obvious? I just picked her because she had the shotgun ;_; We did end up taking point but then it turned out the sniper girl wasn't a mistake when we snuck up on some robots and she asks if she can take the shot to which I queried if that was even a question.

    Spoiler:
Big Bo ended up taking the hit for Faye, the meaningful echo cut deep. I never did get to find out what happened to Cain though, I mean did he really betray everyone or was he just reprogrammed like the heretic geth?

Anyway, game is cool and it's $40 on steam which seems alright, but I would wait for the summer sale and hope for a price cut. If it does go on sale definitely pick it up, it took me 8 hours to finish and it was pretty fun.
  • I put torches everywhere and Creepers still magically appear in my shit. Driving me slowly insane. Also I couldn't sleep for something like 36 hours because every time I started to drift off, I had a coughing attack. Maybe that had more to do with going insane. ANYWAY it seems the new medicine my doctor gave me actually worked because then I slept 12 hours.

Did I mention I made a giant rollercoaster in Minecraft? I love this game.
  • I now have a house full of cuddly wolves in Minecraft. Awww.
  • Creaty said:

Been playing Hero Academy on the iPhone lately. It's pretty much like a multiplayer Fire Emblem game with some tweaks. This would do really well on the DS with bigger maps and a timer.

Anyway, my username is Creaty there too.

So this is getting released on Steam, with a new TF2 team available to commemorate the event.
  • My sister got my Lollipop Chainsaw from the video store so I'm letting her play Amnesia with a friend. Too bad I will miss their reactions.

So I played through the first 2 stages...and I'm still not sure what to think about the game.
  • At the moment I'm jumping around between the Skyrim DLC, Dragon's Dogma, and the Game of Thrones game. I guess I just can't commit to one game. In DD, it's pretty weird to have your friends pawns following you around and calling you "Master". =/
  • I think I see a theme. Call me crazy.
  • *looks RPG guilty*
  • In an effort to shrink my pile of “games I bought because they were cheap even though I have many other games I haven’t even opened from their packing yet,” I played and finished Enslaved. It was a pretty good and fun game. It reminded me most of those fun action platformers of the of PS2/Xbox/GCN era, like a mix Sands of Time, Sly Cooper, and Ico. It wasn’t as fun as those games because the platforming wasn’t as smooth. The fighting while kind of simple wasn’t frustrating or super boring; you develop your rhythm and can kind of stick to it throughout. Pacing and story were good, as evident by the fact that I actually completed the game. Considering I got the game for like $15, I don’t regret the purchase.
  • I am running through skyrim which I didnt finish because the
Bugs and freezes were to much and drove me to seizure like fits of rage I am also playing final fantasy origins
  • I finished off Tales of Graces F and it was OK. I had forgotten how much crap is in the game that is just impossible to find if you don't have a guide and so I missed most of the skits and opportunities for power ups The last like 4 or 5 hours of the main game was one of my worst video game experiences as they seemed to throw in a shit ton of puzzles just to make the game last longer. . But the future arc partially made up for it and left me having a positive feeling for my play through experience.

Comparing it to Vesperia, I have to say that Vesperia is the better game. I really wish they had brought it over in addition to Graces, but I'm looking forward to an release date announcement for Xilla. I'm curious how they will improve on Graces's battle system.
  • Just finished Lollipop Chainsaw. Man that was a short, but sweet game. Now I kinda wanna play Suda's other games.
  • Lollipop Chainsaw is the only game with his name on it that even approaches the idea of "mechanically sound."
