  • Ryouske Takahashi (creator of VOTOMS... And more importantly Dougram) is the nicest guy ever. Everything he wore was made in Scotland, and he looked sorta like an older, Japanese Sherlock Holmes. He had some really interesting stories about working with Tezuka, and being involved in underground Japanese theater.

And I got his autograph. What a bro.

    AWESOME
  • I've applied for an amazing PhD position in the NIH (Bethesda, Maryland). It's basically a dream job. I think I may have a decent chance of getting it.

However, I'm English. Please, prepare me for your most glorious country.

If you get the job, you'll be less than an hour from Baltimore, the home of The Wire, Otakon, and one of the highest murder (per capita) rates in the U.S.

Edit: Also, an English accent will cause most U.S. citizens to automatically assume you to be very smart, and if they know anyone from Great Britain or even Europe, they will mention it and may even ask if you know said person.
  • I do hope you get the job. I also hope you stay the fuck away from Baltimore.
  • Unfortunately I haven't been gifted with "the" English accent. I'm from the north, meaning I sound more like John Lennon or Noel Gallagher than Stephen Fry. A friend with similar accent just got back from the US, and was apparently sick of being asked what part of Ireland he was from.

Or whether he had ever met the Queen. I've sat in on the House of Lords (school trip). So I could of maybe possibley saw the Queen once.

On the other hand, the two friends who just came back had only good things to say. IE, friendliest people in the world, the food is absurd, greatest place ever, its beautiful etc etc. So that's comforting.

  • On the bright side, even that accent will get you laid.
  • After 2 months of waiting I got my HP touchpad. Not the best tablet, but only because of the lack of apps, but it does what I need it to do. There is a way to run android on it, but it still needs some work to run it smoothly. Also it was suppose to be $99 with free shipping, but they haven't charged me for it yet. I know they have my CC info, because for the past two months the charge has been pending half the time.
  • Feels good with my Mid-terms over. I can now work on debate in the debate office late into the night listening to Eminem with my teammates.
  • First check...
  • Android is now running on my Touchpad!
  • Put down a preorder on this bitch

  • dickbot FTW.
  • I did not even notice that at first. That thing's about the size of the robot's forearm.
  • Long weekend in Chicago. Aw yeah.
  • The Revoltech Anubis is even worse. There's a pose where he's standing with his legs straight and slightly apart, his arms crossed on his chest, and his...uh..."unit" proudly displayed before him. It's like, uh, guys...seriously...seriously...
  • If it gets me a Zone Of The Enders 3 then DAMN THE EXPENSE!
  • I think that video just broke my brain. APOLOGIZE FOR BREAKING MY BRAIN.

Also, what the fuck just happened?
  • I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my entire life. Thank you Japanese comedy shows, and thank you delicious Oktoberfest beer.
  • Free refills on beer!
  • Free refills on beer!

    Sounds awesome.
  • It was! My restaurant/bar luck is stupid awesome.
  • Went to board game night at the local hobby store and brought my copy of Sid Meier's Civilization: The Card Game which was really fun even though it took 3 hours to play because we weren't playing it right. Although I don't like the paper the cards are printed on and sitting in my closet for 4 years has warped some of them so they're hard to shuffle.
  • Nice! How many players did you get? Going to go again?
  • 15 people were there give or take, and I do plan on going next week and bringing it again.
  • Good job man. Proud of you and I'm not being condescending, I mean that. It's awesome that you're making an effort. Next time we hang out you might say more than 20 words.
  • Went to orthopedic and apparently my elbow is not broken I only have some torn ligaments. It hurts about the same but recovery time is quicker and I don't need a cast.
  • eh, I doubt it, I'm not a talkative person by nature.

They also run D&D games and Magic nights there and I want to go just out of morbid curiosity and to try out the cards I got respectively.
  • I got a date with a lady to go see Sunrise Avenue on Sunday. Woo.
  • Very good, sir! Got a picture for us? It's your time to show off!
  • Not yet I don't but I'm sure I'll take on on Sunday.
  • For some reason, the first time I read that, I thought it said, "I request the highest of Elves."
  • I am mollified.
  • Just got back from a pretty great concert. I found myself on their picture on facebook and I must say that I stand out way more than anyone else in the photo on account of my excellent olive green jacket.
  • After being destroyed at a regional college debate tournament, I feel as though I have so much free time to study. Yay.
  • Yay, I'm going to my first job interview tomorrow!
  • I'm just glad to finally have an excuse to wear my suit. Love having it on. Getting a job is just a nice side effect.
  • If you are getting a job on a college campus you almost definitely do not want to wear a suit to the interview.
  • I was told to during the information session. They said to treat it like a real job interview.
  • That's shocking. Especially since I have worn a suit to exactly one job interview, and I have a big boy job. For many jobs if you show up in more than a polo shirt you look like you're trying too hard.
  • Well, it's a 2 part interview process. There's the less formal one tomorrow, I think it's also a sort of information session, and then a more in depth one a week later. The one tomorrow they said a polo shirt, the second one is a suit and tie affair.
  • They seem to treat the RA position a lot more seriously than I'd have thought. Though, they would be paying for a private dorm, meal plan, and $85 a week, so it may be warranted.
  • Now I'm confused, I just reread the email and it says business casual. I don't know what that means and looking it up has only confused me more. Nobody on the internet seems to agree what the fuck it means.
  • Business casual is like... tan pants, polo. You could do suit pants but no coat, dress shirt but no tie. That is my preferred dress-down method.
  • That's what I thought, but then I read opinions saying that it's casual and then others saying that it's semi-formal. That this is all so ill-defined and seems to differ depending on where you work is really annoying.
  • Dress shirts and dress pants is definately the way to go, no tie.
