Favorite Video Game Sountrack/ OST
  • Ok, I want to expand my collection of video game songs.

    Here are my three favorite:

Terra's Theme from Final Fantasy VI, for some reason it takes me back to the highlands of my country and to the star or an epic journey.

Frog's Theme in Chrono Trigger. Ok, this song is the jam. Every time I listen to it I just want to stand up and just kill crazy dinosaurs from the past.

Melodies of Life from Final Fantasy IX is my favorite music that has lyrics. Also, I am a sucker for romantic melodies

    Honorable mention of:
    Original Super Mario Bross theme.
    Top Gear theme
    Metal Gear 2 Opening song.
  • Hmm. Just limited to video games, or can PC games play, too? :)
  • Pc games count also.
  • Ok, I may come up with something more later, but off the top of my head I'll have to give a nod to the Wing Commander series, particularly the original game's score and the Privateer soundtrack, plus the Williams-esque stuff done by George Oldziey for WC3, WC4, and Prophecy (and orchestral redos of the MIDIs from WC1/2, for the Kilrathi Saga compilation).

You can find various versions of the music from the games here.
  • Anything from Guilty Gear.
  • 1. A Deus - Grandia II

    2. The Kingdom Hearts OST in general
  • Bomber Man 64!!!! ....all the way! :D
Beetle Adventure racing, fighting games ranging from Guilty Gear to SNK vs. Street fighter. Of course the silent hill soundtracks 1- 3.
Also the super mario bros. theme.
  • My favorite is either the Oblivion soundtrack or the MGS2 theme.

I found this awesome website with tons of VG albums. Good speeds but the only bad thing is that you have to manually dl each song.

  • Hm...

    Crusader: No Remorse
    Deus Ex
    Einhander
    God Hand
    Guilty Gear (as blank said)
    Halo 1 and 2
    Silent Hill 1 (for mandolin)
Silent Hill 2 (for the opening theme/Angela's theme)
Silent Hill 3 (because Melissa Williamson has the sexiest voice ever)
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan (the Japanese version of Elite Beat Agents)
    Viewtiful Joe
    Zone of the Enders 2

Just off the top of my head...
  • SotN
    Outrun - Magical Shower
    Policenauts
  • Crusader: No Remorse

God, that game was awesome. Spider mines for the win.

I was going to mention the Silent Hill soundtracks earlier, but I figured that went without saying.
  • my favorites are:

    Katamari
    Jet Grind Radio
    The Neverhood
Napple Tale (which I've never actually played, but the soundtrack is by Yoko Kanno and is pretty rad)
  • Crap, I forgot about Katamari and the Jet Grind Radio/ JSRF games. How could I have missed such a thing?
  • Hmm, I know I'll forget something, but here's the list that comes to mind now:

Final Fantasy IV (the main theme when Cecil leaves the castle)
Ikaruga (couldn't get into the game as much, but the music was great)
    Outrun (Magical Sound Shower)
Initial D arcade games (Yeah, stupid mindless Eurobeat)
    Crono Cross
Wario Ware for the Wii (Only good thing about it was the music)
Sonic Adventure (Cheesy 80's-esque rock, eh, whatever)
Half Life 1 (Very end song)
Phantasmagoria (that awesome Carmina Burama like promo music, heck, maybe it was Carmina Burama)
    Metal Gear Solid 2
  • [quote="Teabagapotamus"]Outrun (Magical Sound Shower)

    Best OC Remix ever

Half Life 1 (Very end song)

Incorrect, Nuclear Mission Jam is the best song on that soundtrack.

Has anyone noticed how much the Half-Life soundtrack gets used in early morning commercials for Herpes medication and Technical Schools? Not to mention how the opening moments from "Adrenaline Horror" are used in just about every TV action scene ever (The X-Files really abused it).
  • [quote="Teabagapotamus"]
Sonic Adventure (Cheesy 80's-esque rock, eh, whatever)

The first level music from Sonic Adventure 2 is a guilty pleasure of mine  Something about the terrible music from newer sonic games* is just endearing to me...

*except Sonic Rush because Hideki Naganuma did that and he's the shit.
  • i cant believe noone mentioned heavy metal midi from Rock and Roll Racing for the Sega Genesis. And mario is my cell phone ring. Ah how iconic.
  • The first level music from Sonic Adventure 2 is a guilty pleasure of mine Embarassed Something about the terrible music from newer sonic games* is just endearing to me...

I kind of know what you mean...

I'll try not to name things that have already been named:

MechWarrior 2 (bonus: the game disc uses CD Audio, so just put it in a player and skip the data track)
    Hitman and Hitman 2
Shenmue 2 (for atmospheric BGM while I work)
Metal Gear Solid 1 (same as above)
    Legaia Duel Saga
Resident Evil 2 (It's no Silent Hill in terms of music, but still pretty good)

Also, Policenauts and anything by TAPPY
  • I love the sweet techno music from Robotron X, even if the game itself is nothing to write home about. Also SUPER METROID, bitches, and Megaman 2.
  • How could I have forgotten my beloved Soul Calibur II OST
I believe everyone should at least heard one song from this cd. It really sucks that it was only released on the Limited Edition "fighter's guide". So that is why I uploaded for everyones content.
My favorites are "Brave Sword, Braver Soul" and "No Turning Back"

Plz if there is a problem with the file let me know.

By the way this file is the whole album in compressed in rar format. I used Itunes to change the format to mp4. I do not know if i did it right thou.
  • I also forgot to mention that Phoenix Wright has some really good "music".
  • The Silent Hill theme is the sweetest tune ever. I heard that even though Silent Hill 4 sucked ass, the soundtrack was the best in the series. Can anybody confirm or deny?
  • [quote="davedave24"]The first level music from Sonic Adventure 2 is a guilty pleasure of mine

Running around at the speed of sound . . . .
  • Daytona. Come fly away.
  • Don't you mean...

DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    DAYTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONA!

Does anyone have an mp3 of that? That song rocked.
  • ROOOOOOOOOLLING STARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!

I have the mp3 of that one.
  • I now have a new reason to rush home after work.
  • Please post the mp3.

    Enjoy
  • TETRIS!

If a CD "Greatest Hits of Tetris" was released I would buy it!
  • Panzer Tiger, you rock.

This midi will change your life.
  • [quote="blank"]Anything from Guilty Gear.

ESPECIALLY the goddamn hilarious Live In L.A. / N.Y. soundtracks.

.. or you know, GGXX Sound Alive if you prefer it to actually be good.

Einhander has some kicking music, and for the mention of Phoenix Wright, the Phoenix Wright with Orchestra CD is pretty swank.
  • Shadow of the Colossus
    Einhander
    Megaman 2
    The Katamaris
    Parappa the Rappa
    Chrono Trigger
  • [quote="Dave"]
Silent Hill 3 (because Melissa Williamson has the sexiest voice ever)
After beating Silent Hill 3 I would have to wholeheartedly agree, however, I'd still prefer to listen to you read the shipping news.

Aw, you're just sayin' that...
  • Suikoden II

    Silent Hill 3

    Final Fantasy Series (I know...)

    Zelda Series

Those are off the top of my head.
  • [quote="Niku"][quote="blank"]Anything from Guilty Gear.

I actually like those, pretty sweet, but the vocals are ok, but I think it gives it a different flavour, and more life, so yeah GGXX, and MGS 1-3(possibly 4)
  • Phoenix Wright.

    Orchestrated.
  • There is apparantly now a Phoenix Wright JAZZ soundtrack.
  • Chrono Cross: Time's Scar and Victory, but the entire thing is pretty good.

Only soundtrack I found missing in this thread.
  • Excellent first post. Time's Scar is a banging song, if only it were longer.

And Chrono Cross was actually fun...
  • [quote="the other Jason"]The Silent Hill theme is the sweetest tune ever. I heard that even though Silent Hill 4 sucked ass, the soundtrack was the best in the series. Can anybody confirm or deny?
I can confirm. The theme song was very creepy.

Also ofcourse MGS, Deus Ex, Hitman and such. Metal Gear May Cry (MGS+Devil May Cry remix) is also very nice.
