I saw Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. It was bad. The character designs were atrocious and the story, like the comic, was overall meh. The action was the only saving grace of the film
However I am overly excited for All-Star Superman. I never really understood why the comic is held at such a high regard, but I liked it well enough and the adaption looks great.
I just finished watching it to. The choice of using Michael Turner art as the basis for the character designs doesn't work. The story was very boring but hot damn was that Darkseid on the farm fight badass. The fight with Kara was one of the better animated fights between super powered characters I've seen. There was actual choreography which is impressive.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. I wasn't a huge fan of the comic either, but at least the action was decent.
All-Star Superman, at least the little I read of it, seemed sort of goofy and Silver Agey, which I don't have a problem with, but seems at odds with the super serious and dark story they're trying to tell. But I guess we'll see how it turns out.
I watched The Secret of Kell on Netflix streaming. I missed some of the middle part, but it was definitely a good animated movie with cool style and great directing.
I also watched How to Train Your Dragon, which was surprisingly enjoyable for a kids' movie, and probably one of the best outings by Dreamworks in a while. To put it in Pixar terms, I liked it better than Finding Nemo, but maybe not as much as The Incredibles. John Powell totally lets out the stops in one of the most bombastic fantasy soundtracks I've ever heard-- the nice thing about kids movies is that you can throw subtlety to the wind and just go totally all out.
[quote="wayintothe7thart"]So far Curren$y "Pilot Talk" is the best album I've heard all year. I'm starting to agree with you. Not my favorite but still very pleasing despite the "gangsta" lyrics here and there. Still, it's not as bad as Freddie Gibbs, whom I don't know for the life of me why he's getting so much hype, from the "blogosphere" of all places
So I watched the Substitute starring Tom Berenger, he totally kicks a bunch of high school kids' asses and then shoots a bunch of dudes. I found the short scene where Berenger's character is lying on bed and is throwing ninja stars at a map unintentionally hilarious.
I've grown to really like the "Old White Dudes Fighting Crime" sub-genre from watching 24, Taken, and this.
Addendum: I also watched Cobra in its entirety, at its best Cobra is only Okay.
[quote="BrokenMagnum"]Addendum: I also watched Cobra in its entirety, at its best Cobra is only Okay. The most interesting parts of Cobra, I thought, were the bits with Stallone and his partner getting into heated arguments over absolutely nothing. I think they stuck out so much because the rest of the movie is such a generic, personality-free action movie that it made those scenes - which inject something resembling actual humanity into the otherwise-cardboard characters - feel out of place.
Speaking of gay anime, I decided to catch up to the newest episode of Shiki and I'm glad I did. The first 5 or 6 episodes were pretty boring and overall not that interesting. The basic premise is that vampires are attacking this town and converting/killing off the townsfolk and some of the try to stop it from happening. Don't let your hatred for vampires, weird and numerous characters, or the slow beginning stop you from watching this, it gets to be very good around episode 7 or 8 and it has not let up since. This last episode had one of the most uncomfortable moments I've ever experienced watching a TV series. It's on Hulu.

Wait, so you always talked that crap about Cobra and never actually saw it? That movie sucked balls and it's not even bad in a fun way. It declines almost immediately after the opening scene in the grocery store.
So... I watched Ransom starring Mel Gibson and Eraser starring Arnold. I thought Ransom was enjoyable although the second half kind of fell through for me, while Eraser was bad and kind of dumb even for an Arnold action movie.
The only thing I remember about Ransom was Gary Sinise killing all them people in the van. That, and going down to the set every day after school to bother Ron Howard. To his credit he was a cool dude and put up with all our adolescent bullshit.

Who the fuck is Freddie Gibbs? Google is your buddy
I've been watching The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye. I'm only 2 episodes in and it's not bad. I thought I wouldn't like it because of the generic character designs, but the talking tank won me over.
Kanye West's new album, My Dark Beautiful Twisted fantasy; Great stuff. It's good that he's managed to balance out the bravado with some introspection and honesty. Too many guest artists on a couple of tracks for my liking, and I can't get over the pronunciation of "ridiculous" on So Appalled....it's stupid.
Harry fucking Potter in IMAX. No Gryffindor scarf, but maybe next time.
Probably not an easy to movie to follow if you haven't read the book, but I don't know why people would be in HP7 if they don't know about wizards and crap by this point. My only complaint was that Bill Nighy didn't have enough screen time to really have much of a character.
Hard to follow if you haven't read the book or hard to follow if you have seen the other movies? I've seen most of the movies and read about a chapter of one of the middle books...
Hard to say, there are some things that they don't really explain, but they're not really central to the plot, more just nods to the book. I generally prefer my movies under- rather than over-explained, and while they're clearly trying to solve a mystery, I liked that the script didn't have the sit-down, explain everything to the audience moment. The tone is pretty dark and bleak, there's a lot more violence, so I'm glad the movie raised the level of how much it expected its audience to figure shit out, but that's me.
Your Highness. New movie from the Pineapple Express guys that's about medieval swords and sorcery. Has Natalie Portman in a thong and the line "If your vagina is anything like my hand."
I'm listening to Girl Talk's newest album. I've disliked his past albums and have never really understood why he's so well regarded, but All Day has changed opinion on him. It might be because he's used older music Bubba Sparxxx and ELO, Radiohead and ODB, Lil' Kim and Jackson 5. So far it's been pretty nostalgic and enjoyable.
