I think it's more that those shows are cool enough to get away with it, and Godannar is not. Specifically, when I think of, say, Mazinger, I usually think of stuff like Koji escaping from that volcano or Mazinkazier vs. that big guy in the black armor that had a old man face in the chest plate.
When I think of Godanner, all I can think of is tits. Titty, boob, titty, boob, ass, ass, ass, titty missiles.
The Ankoku Daishogun or Great General of Darkness is a good villain when he fights himself. When I think old robot shows, I think lots of superfluous attacks but when I think of Godannar I think of the fact that each robot has about 3 attacks each. In Mazinger the breast missiles are never super sexualized the way everything in Godannar is.

Funny, when I think of Godanner, I think of Godanner destroyer monsters with he fist, lot of giant robot refers, and female pilots who actuality good at there job.
I'm not denier that the show is sexual, but not in the same way as Strike Witches, which it's the whole point, or Code Geass, which overshadow the mecha. The main force is the characters and robots, not the tits & ass. And when it is, it tongue in cheek.

It not how many attacks you have, but how you use them. Also, this breast missiles was rarely in the show guys.

Maybe, but the fact that we keep coming back to it shows how profound an impact is has on our recollection of the show. Anything interesting that happening in Godannar was completely overshadowed by the barrage of sexual imagery every 4 or 5 seconds. And regardless of the female characters being effective pilots, their sexualization in almost every single shot makes them impossible to take seriously in any capacity.
Also, when Aphrodite A or Mazinger Z would fire their chest based weaponry, it was only ordinance delivered from there. I know the Aphrodite A looked like a girl and they were basically boobs, but at least they didn't have jiggle physics. When you're being less subtle than Go Nagai with sexual imagery, you have a have a problem.

I've seen the entirety of Godannar and the tits and asses are prevalent throughout and if it wasn't an action show it would be completely disconcerting and awkward. And because its an action show it is only has barely reprehensible amount of tight pants and spandex.
I guess it come down to how much fan service you can take. If this didn't have good writhing, characters, and fights I wouldn't care if Fast Karate review.
[quote="OnePixelJumpMan"]First 4, then 2 later on that I don't remember the placement of.
It go down after that, get back up in ep 14, but go down back to.

I don't think that a bad thing to say it wasn't be good if it didn't have that element.
I think he's saying that it's not unreasonable to think the show would be bad if it didn't have the action element. Which is true. That or he's saying that the show would be bad without the fanservice element. Which is true if you're a creepy weirdo.

I'm still waiting on that Vampire Princess Miyu episode. And while I'm asking for things of that nature, I'd also like a football team made up entirely of orcs to watch while swimming in my infinite ice cream and oral sex vat.
Ok, there are two OVAs for Spirit Warrior. The first is from 1988 and was directed by Ichiro Itano, director of Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and the second from 1994 was directed by some guy going by Rintaro who directed Dagger of Kamui. I think from that we can call either one a potential winner.
You guys should review a few episodes of Dragonball GT. As you might already know, the show has so many plot holes and generally stupid comments that it's impossible NOT to find it funny. I think the first five-ish episodes have enough material to work with, if I remember correctly. Good luck, gentlemen.
By saying that, you've made me imagine you as a teacher of asshole high school students (read: all high school students) that either want you dead or want to bang you. Or one than the other.
[quote="Dave"]Actually, GTO is based loosely on my life and I was never paid royalties, so it's a bit of a sore spot. You have a 15 year old Mensa girl trying to get in your pants?
[quote="Winter"]I'd kinda like to hear the guys talk about Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, just to hear their thoughts on it, but I remember Dave already saying they were going to at some point. (Note: my memory kinda sucks, so I may be FOS on that.)
There's always stuff like Eiken or Doki Doki School Hours, I guess, but I'm a little hard-pressed to wish that garbage on anyone.
I wouldn't mind another point of view on this wierd series. I watched it on Crunchyroll in "chronological order" opposed to "actual order". They proposed that this is something that happens in anime series fairly ofter but this is the first time I've seen a series shown out of order. Plus the show kinda touches on multiple genre and was pretty entertaining.
Toradora is above average. It's better than Clannad or any of those other types. At the time I watched it I liked it a lot, but my enthusiasm for it has waned a bit. It's a romantic comedy, but I don't remember any real funny parts from it. It does have good and interesting characters. I might be biased because of how I feel about the ending. It would not make a good Fast Karate.
I'm surpised that there has not been a Fast Karate on Air TV or Air the motion picture. Now that would be a good podcast. Or you guys could watch some more of Clannad, I believe all of it is on Netflix Instant now.
I thought about suggesting Air as well, but it's no different from Kanon. I'm sure there are some small differences, but the shows might as well be the same thing.
Gonna go out on a limb here and say that I want Dave and Joel to review a good anime - the Sword of the Stranger podcast was awesome, so I think it's time to review something awesome again. My pick? Future Boy Conan. DO IT!

If you not a fan of Air, or doesn't hang out on Anime News Network for hours, most folks probably believe they have to watch the show to get the movie.
Boku no Pico. I dare you. If you thought Desert punk was bad. You have another thing coming. This show is almost illegal. Actually i think it would get you arrested if you showed it to a cop.
