I have always had shitty free cell phones. I just got my first smartphone, an LG Ally. It is an Android phone. It seems pretty neat, because it has both a touch screen and a pull out QWERTY keyboard so I can actually type on it, which is good, because I cannot type on touch screens AT ALL, due to my apparently enormous fingers. I like how it integrates with gmail and google maps, but.... now what? What do people even use smartphones FOR?
Use mine to browse net when I'm not able to get to a computer . Retrieve stuff like receipts , reference numbers etc etc. Makes a nice little quick Remote Desktop/SSH fixer upper for things like Print Spoolers stop working or emergency rebooting servers. Use it to make Skype calls when I scan some free wifi. Have an RSS/Podcast app on mine if I want to catch the latest episode of my favourite podcast. Use it as my alarm clock to wake my dopey ass up at 5AM Take uncompromising videos/photos of myself and send to everyone in my contacts list.
I've tried to use the sound recorder apps on the phone , but I find it just easier to writes text notes to myself.YMMV.Also I hate my voice. My screen is a bit too small for the manga / comic viewers but I guess you can give it a shot if your phone display is large enough.
Edit:Forgot to add , I tether it to my Bluetooth system in my car for hands free receiving of calls.
