The BBC was noting that FIFA might bring in instant video replay to review referee calls, but - despite seeing a few obviously bad calls change the results of some games - I don't think they should do it. I don't mind occasional human error, and if it is that much of a problem, just throw in another ref.
[quote="blakout"]Japan losing in penalties thats gotta be heartbreaking. Yeah, I felt bad for the Japanese player who blew his penalty kick. That's gonna be a long plane ride home.
Does FIFA have official language they use for the games? The refs are able to speak to both teams and the players are sometimes able to communicate with each other.
That Ghana penalty kicker is probably the sickest man in the world right now. 5 inches proved to be the difference between jubilation of the highest degree and absolute despair
Ghana was my backup team as well, so I'm at a bit of a loss. I guess I have to pull for the Netherlands.
What is the language Dutch? Is it closer to French or German?
German. Dutch isn't a Romantic language as German isn't and French is. It is specifically noted to have descended from Old Frankish which is the language of an West Germanic tribe similar to Old Saxon, though that was separated from what would become the basis of modern German Old High German. At the same time, that makes Dutch a closer relative to German than French.
As an Englishman, I've been rooting for Germany since they thrashed us. Maturity in defeat (and what a defeat).
I've posited some new tactics for the English team, based on other teams tactics. There is this thing called "a defence" I think seems to really work for other teams, which we should try. Not against the German super-team, but it might have helped us.
DEUTSCHLAND, DEUTSCHLAND UBER ALLE, UBER ALLE IN DER WELT.

I think team USA needs this advice as well, also The first half is NOT a warmup, stop waiting for the second half to do everything.
After Brazil got knocked out I'm counting on the Clockwork Orange to take it home.
Paraguay lingerie model will still run nude in tribute of World Cup team. [quote="Larissa Riquelme"] It will be a present to all of the players, and for all the people in Paraguay to enjoy, because they tried as hard as possible and gave it their all on the field When will American fans show this much love for their team and country?

[quote="exagenous"]http://images.wildammo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Nigel_De_Jong_Vs_Xabi_Alonso_Kung_Fu_Fighting.gifWent to a party at Dutch friend's house to watch the game. The Netherlands may have lost but at least we got to see a dude get kicked in the chest.
BTW, anybody else find that game frustrating? Too much stop-and-start, tons of penalties, kinda crappy all round. At least it didn't end in a penalty shootout.
I thought the game was pretty pathetic with the amount of flopping done by both sides. I know it's a part of the game, but I don't know how one's pride would allow them to take pleasure in winning by playing that cheaply. I would hope that FIFA would take a look at maybe seeking punishment for horrendous levels of flopping
