Podcast: Why is Brad Pitt in this sex cartoon?
  • We have a new podcast up at:

    http://www.destroyallpodcasts.com

It's about Cool World, which is kind of like shitty Roger Rabbit with a sex scene and Brad Pitt.
  • I have the SNES game to this, but it sadly(gladly?) doesnt work.

This had the potential to be a great film if done right, but there was so much stupid involved to lower it down. To some degree I do like this film, even though its not the best. I remember seeing the VHS of this in Blockbuster all the time back in the early/mid 90's and wondering "What is this movie?" Can't believe this film is 20 years old.
  • I think Ralph Bakshi's original idea sounded pretty cool and it's obvious when they took his project away from him he just half-assed his way through it without any passion. Too bad. I think his work is always problematic, but usually interesting. This one was kind of a wreck.
  • Christ I happily forgot this movie even existed.
  • I actually remember watching this for the first time a few years back in a hotel room on a youth group retreat and one of the guys that came with us walked in and said "Hey, I think that is Cool World," which when I was watching the last 30 minutes of it or so, I kinda knew what it was, but I found it kinda cool.

I heard Kim Basinger was an utter disaster to work with on this movie.
  • I sincerely doubt she was the only one. Ralpha Bakshi supposedly punched out the producer.
  • Oh yea I heard that too, but the way I heard that it sounded like he had a good reason to, but I could be wrong.

I should shut up, because I havent heard your episode yet.
  • The good reason was the producer totally threw out the screenplay Bakshi wrote and forced Bakshi to use a screenplay by the hack writing duo of the Poltergeist movies, but yes, I went over that on the podcast. :)
