All my Rowdy friends are here for Monday night.

I don't know who that guy with the shaved head is, but he is messing some zombies up. This game seems to be going where I always wanted 24 to go.
  • Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

    Co-op confirmed.

    Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
  • Leon AND Chris! I had thought they said they where going back to their roots for this game, less actiony and more horrory, but this trailer seems heavy on the action.
  • Also the only acceptable way for this game to end is for Chis and Leon to preform the Preditor handshake and walk off into the sunset while 'We Fight for Love' plays.
  • I want to know what Claire's been doing for the past, oh, thirteen real-life years.
  • Co-op is the only thing that matters to me in this game. I will probably play it like 3 times.
  • Amg amg amg. Yaaaaaaay! Dude Claire's been dealing with outbreaks in airports, duh. The trailer is whatever, the release date makes me happy. Mass Effect and Resident Evil this year? I haven't had this many big games in my sights for years.
  • Wow, I'm way more stoked for this than I expected. Seems they're hearkening back at least somewhat to their horror routes with Leon's storyline, so that's cool. Dunno about Mr. Shaved Head White Guy Protagonist #235, but he seems to have at least something of a personality, so we'll see. And speaking of Claire, we haven't really heard anything from any of the surviving supporting cast members after their respective games other than her. What happened to Billy? Rebecca? Carlos? Barry, even? I always thought bringing them back for future games in two-man teams would be an obvious move, given that RE games are moving in a more or less full co-op direction now, but apparently not. In any event, this is up with Bioshock Infinite as one of my most anticipated games now, though unfortunately my PS3-owning friends will still be in school when it comes out, so I'll have to wait on co-op til winter break.
  • Is it just me or did it look like a multiplayer mode for a sec. there.

    It's pResident Evil!
  • President Evil was the name of the guy who wrote the best and most awesome RE storyline synopsis FAQ back in the day.
  • I've only played the original Resident Evil and RE4, but I'm pretty excited about this.

I probably ought to play some of the other RE games...
  • I've never played a Resident Evil game before, but that looks interesting.

    It's Ashley's fault.
  • I'm excited, but that trailer did worry me with parts. That weakass sidekick chick for Leon gave me RE: Degeneration flashbacks. Does ANYONE want to see her or Ashley vs. Jill or Claire or Ada? I guess they want to hit the core of the US Gearzz manly men demographic or something.

I know that name well. He did the Silent Hill FAQs as well, though despite his hard work, a lot of that turned out to be wrong, I think?
  • To be fair, Silent Hill was a moving target. Trying to cobble that storyline together was a herculean task and his work was admirable. It was also fun to read just how crazy things were supposed to be in that universe.
  • Oh yeah, it was an admirable effort for even trying. I also think there was a fair bit of retconning on the part of SH creators, since SH1 leans more toward "demonic cult and Dark God turning small town into hell dimension" and SH2 is more "Silent Hill is totally fine, just a representation of the inner demons of people who are drawn there.
  • Soooooooooo, from the trailer looks like we'll actually have zombies again instead of ganados/majinis? I wonder how that's gonna work with the RE4/5 kinds of controls. Also human enemies shooting guns, probably.

    I like Ashley's cute little haircut. :D

    But also fuck Ashley.

I guess Jill's got a (hopefully) real game for 3DS so maybe they didn't want to repeat her too much, EXCEPT CHRIS IS IN THAT TOO.

Also where's Sheva. What happened to partners 'til the end (bad boys for life), huh Chris?

I don't remember too much being wrong with the Silent Hill FAQ. His explanation, from what I remember of it, is the most logically consistant one I've read.
  • It's hard to write a FAQ for a game that has a completely different story depending on which ending you got.
  • Well, probably the most interesting thing about the endings is the one where he was dead the whole time.

Otherwise, the endings don't affect the content of the game all that much, which was what the story FAQ was focused on: why the town ended up as it was.
  • All I remember about that game was that it scared the crap out of me... ToT

Also Sean Bean was in the movie.
  • Do these FAQ's you speak of still exist?

And Sean Bean being in the SH movie was simultaneously the best and worst thing about it. Best because Sean Bean, worst because when Sean Bean is in a SH movie I want him to actually go to Silent Hill. In which case, the movie would either be five minutes long when he kicks its ass and takes his daughter back, or would be legitimately interesting when I have a main character I actually care about who also happens to be played by an actor most associated with various and sundry badass roles, and it would be interesting to see him play a character placed in such a supremely psychologically vulnerable sort of setting.

But anyway, I doubt anyone really expected Sheva to ever show up anywhere again.
  • Sean Bean wouldn't have survived if his role was bigger. He never survives.
  • It's true, but that would have been pretty ballsy on the movies part all the same.

    Yup, sure do:

    It's Ashley's fault.

I was thinking about this today. That president is her father?
  • Yeah, but I doubt she snuck some bug through customs since he looks like a zombie and not a ganado.
  • This has inspired me to play through all the Resident Evil games before 6 comes out. I never played 1 (not 100% true, I started it a few times but never got far in it) , and It's been so long since I've played 2 & 3 that I can't remember anything about them. I bought RE1 psn, and damn, controls are a pain. RE4 & 5 have ruined me.
  • Wiki says the president was turned into a zombie as a result of a terrorist bio-chem attack, so I doubt Ashley had anything to do with that.
  • I used to play through every RE game before a new one came out. 4 was the last one I did it on. Had a lot of good times. :D

Remember to turn on autoaim in RE1 and RE2.
  • What about zero? should I play that before 1?
  • Technically, chronologically, you could. If you're gonna play all of them, might as well. You can get one of the worst out of the way early. :D
  • Yeah...just ignore 0. It's bad in pretty much all aspects except visually. If you want to play chronologically, which I have and it's awkward, you'd have to play half of 3, all of 2, then finish 3.

If you really cared and were willing to spend more money the REmake is really good.
  • I like what you did there.
  • It's Kotaku so who knows how correct it's gonna end up being, but it's possible.

    http://kotaku.com/5877832/is-hunk-the-third-protagonist-in-resident-evil-6
  • Um, maybe "who the fuck thinks that dude is supposed to be Steve Burnside?" is the more important question.
  • I like how their reasoning for not Steve is "the hair doesn't quite match" instead of "he turned into a big monster in Code Veronica and died."
  • Alex Wesker (http://residentevil.wikia.com/Alex_Wesker) seems to be the other popular choice, and I had no idea this guy even existed until now.
  • I thought Alex was the one they were interrogating in the RE:3DS trailer. Well that was my theory at least.

By the way, there are a lot of Weskers.

I don't mind the Hunk idea. Makes it a little more tolerable then tossing in another random ass dude when there are so many being ignored.
  • Oh I know about the Wesker Kids, I just didn't know they'd revealed any of them. Come to think of it, that makes me want to go check out that 3DS trailer now.

UPDATE: Didn't feel like double posting, so here's this (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1216937p1.html). Apparently, that blonde chick in the trailer isn't Ashley, it's Sherry Birkin all growed up.
  • He does have kung-fu powers, which I think is a dominant gene in Weskers.
  • That sounded exactly like Ashley's voice actress. I'm shocked.
  • Not sure if Sherry is better or worse than Ashely.

  • Dave said:

Yeah, it sounded like Ashley to me as well, plus they're invoking a President who Leon knows personally, which also leads me to think Ashley's involved.

"Unnamed source talking to IGN" says it's Sherry, so I'll believe it when we get something more official than that.
  • Sherry is more important than Ashley...

If it weren't for ashley, I would have never been able to explode a satanist's head by kicking it.

Pssh, neither of her parents would even believe that.

Some new details. Pretty sure when they say the third MC is supposed to be someone younger gamers can relate too, the mean the potential dudebro audience.
