Pokémon and Oda Nobunaga together at last
  • It's the crossover game you've all been waiting for, by Nintendo and Tecmo Koei called Pokémon X Nobunaga's Ambition.

SRPG for the DS coming out in 2012

  • Is this real? It better be because it sounds amazing.
  • I really really want this to be real.
  • This is only the natural progression of Pokemon. Eventually we will get Pokemon games about rebelling against the confides of suburbia. The day will come. That day will be good, for it will be a day when we begin to fear the Pokemon and fall to our knees and behold the Beyblade God.
  • Will this be released in the US?
  • I know this is just getting announced, and in Japanese, but is there any word on what the gameplay would be like? Most pokemon games that come out that aren't a color or mineral seem to be pretty crap, it'd be nice if this was able to turn that around.
  • The video showed it. It's a grid based tactical rpg.
  • Wait, Mewtwo? I CALL BS, this clearly doesn't fit within the establish Pokemon timeline
  • who said its canon?
  • Jirachi wished Mewtwo to the past.
  • I was just thinking, is it possible that this game could be like Fire Emblem?
  • One can only hope.
  • Given that it is a strategy rpg I imagine that it will be at least somewhat similar to Fire Emblem unless you mean something specific about Fire Emblem.
  • Just the general Fire Emblem combat set. I could see how all the other elements could work with Pokemon though. Stuff like promotions working as evolutions.
  • I imagine it will play like the Nobunaga's Ambition games.
  • Now I want Warhammer 40k Space Marine with Pokemon.
  • How is that a surprise? The gameplay was in that damned trailer. I don't understand how anyone was asking what it would play like. It's fucking Final Fantasy Tactics A2 with pokeyman sprites.
  • I was really hoping it would be a sim like the actual Nobunaga's Ambition.
  • Article said:

Pokémon Conquest is developed by Tecmo Koei games and pairs Nintendo’s popular creatures with fantasy versions of warlords from Japan’s feudal era. The player can choose to play as either a male or female character, and the game contains nearly 200 Pokémon in total.

“Pokémon fans are always interested in playing in new environments and experiencing new adventures,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Pokémon Conquest gives them an entirely new way to enjoy this beloved series, with exciting new settings, fierce battles and nearly 200 Pokémon to team up with.”

Pokémon Conquest will be released for the Nintendo DS on June 18th.

  • Is there online Wi-Fi?
  • I think it's funny how that chick is all like MAMORITAI~~~~ and the Jigglypuff is like Fucking whatever I'm high on quaaludes right now.
  • lol Dude I first saw this game on the Koei Wiki several months ago and to this day it makes me want to own a DS. Samurai Warriors/ Nobunaga's Ambition and Pokemon? Match made in heaven.

And of course Nobunaga's baby sister, Oichi has to have Jigglypuff.
All these Pokemon pairings seem rather natural to me.
  • Game is out today. you get some extra pokemons if you preordered it from gamestop.
  • Played it for about an hour today. I like the concept of it, but so far ever Pokemon only has one regular move. I just got to the point where you can recruit additional members, but I can't yet change the pokemon you have equipped. I hope the stratagy part of the game gets a bit deeper soon, but I am still enjoying the game. The plot seems like it can be summarized as the following.
  • Wanted to impulse purchase it, but none of the 3 stores I went to (Walmart, Gamestop, Target) didn't have it so I gave up.
  • I been playin' this. It's okay, but the tactical stuff is like a weaker Fire Emblem and the sim stuff is basically nonexistent.
  • Is it worth the $30?
  • I would say probably not, but most people like Pokemon a lot more than me.

Pokemon only get one ability and one passive skill, and most areas are all guys of a certain type, so you just round up your fire dudes before you go to leaf land and you clean house in this extremely simple FFT style.
  • What if I'm less interested in the pokemons and more interested in the Nobunaga?
  • There is almost no Nobunaga's Ambition in this game.
  • Bleh, Masumune is neither asking if I'm ready guys or to put my guns on. Also he's a damn kid.
