  • I could've been having a cinnamon roll. Get to it.

This is what your show title makes me think of. Thanks a lot.
  • Yeah boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. :D :D :D :D :D
  • Thanks, Paul. Now I don't know when I'll sleep again.
  • So that's what Paul watches when M.O.M.'s not around.
  • so glad you guys reviewed Name of the Wind. this is awesome
  • I started the book, decided that one of the main characters was gambit from the x-men, and haven't picked it up since. I will definitely give it another try now.

  • sorry to double comment but wanted to add thanks for exposing me to the music at the end, was not aware of that band. Really enjoyed the song, started looking up their stuff...
  • YOU MADE MOR E THAN ONE COMMENT ON A THREAD????
  • Joel, I'm to lazy to search the podcast for the name of the book that led you to The History of the Internet, what was it?
  • Lasaiss: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've been addicted to the latest Malkmus album since it came out. Definitely go back and check out old Pavement and Silver Jews albums, too, if you enjoy his solo work.
  • Where's book club #2?

edit: Whoops, skipped right over it in search.
  • @Xeno: It's called "Who Controls the Internet." I'll let you borrow my copy.
  • I'm listening right now. So this is about books? Whatever, I don't care.

SOPA stinks. Throw it in a fire. I agree with you that cable has to go a la carte, and FUCKING WARNER BROTHERS NEEDS TO PUT MORE OF THERE STUFF ON NETFLIX INSTANT!

I used to be a freaking internet hobo, scrounging the digital boxcars for torrents, but now all this content is being streamed officially, and I want more. I even want premium cable content. I want It's Always Sunny at the click of my mouse, and everything original the movie channels have to offer as well.

Now I guess I should start listening to the book part of this episode.
  • Joel, while you sum Altered Carbon's erotic(?) encounters pretty summarily, you should know that you got off pretty light. The second book seems to have chapters wrested from the clenched... hands of a romance novel's bosom. Or a metaphor that makes sense. You read books, smart guy. You come up with a metaphor. I just got off the job and I'm not up for it. Anyway that second book has some juicy passages dripping with the kind of adjectives and verbs I hope to god my children don't learn until they're like twenty five and only call me on weekends when they're not busy. Past that he has a fantasy novel wherein the unnecessarily graphic happenings are nigh-on plot points. Though I understand that to be less uncommon in fantasy novels.

Jon's description of his experience with the december book with-a-super-long-name-but-is-actually-shorter-than-this-and-could-still-be-printed-sideways-across-the-spines-of-its-unabridged version-at-40pt-font-with-ease really makes me want to pick it up. So congratulations sir you sold me on that book a second time.

  • It's been a few years since I've read it, but I could join in on the Altered Carbon discussion if you want a fourth. If not, that's cool, too.
  • The thing is, I really enjoyed the book when I was reading it. I think what started me not liking it was the way it turned out to be such a cocktease at the end; and the more I thought about it, the more things there were that annoyed me. It might just be that if I could read all the books at once I'd like it more.
  • Well, the second one is out, bud, and it is worthwhile reading.

I'll never understand this new "hip" and "edgy" My Little Ponies show.

  • Someone on the SA forums pointed out that it's very, very easy to imagine Kvothe with Zap Brannigan's voice.

I am almost tempted to reread the book just for that experience. Maybe I'll just keep that in mind if I ever get around to the sequel.
