  • I have a friend who has a reverse milling deck. Where you mill yourself. Its a sight to see.

I played a version of that with Threshold/Flashback type cards. Stuff like Werebear and Krosan Beast really early, but just relying on strong creatures for rushdown is subject to a lot of problems, obviously.

Though honestly, the viability of mill decks depends on how well you can delay/lockdown your opponent. For control decks, it's a reasonable win condition.
  • Spankminister I think you forgot to inform us of the most important information in your post, and that good SIR is the Flavor Text on Werebear.

  • on the topic of self mill:
    Laboratory Maniac and Demonic Consultation.
Name a card that isn't in your deck, you will mill your entire deck and if played during the upkeep you will subsequently attempt to draw a card and win the game.

edit: also after the pro-tour that happened this weekend Huntmaster of the Fells went from being a $10-15 card to being a $25-30 card, further proving the price of cards is super dumb. Sorin, however, has dropped in price from $50 to $40...
  • $40 for a single piece of cardboard is one of the reasons why - as much as I like the mechanics - I can't spend money on this game.
  • Normally I'd completely agree, but I had a random playset from the pre-release that I just sold earlier today. Hello drinking money for the next month.

And I don't have Duels but I'm up for downloading cockatrice and giving it a try.
  • Does anyone try to speculate magic cards?
  • I don't think so because there are a lot of uncountable details that can radically change the price. For example no one played Stoneforge Mystic from Zenkidar block until Scars block came out and then it got banned.
  • We need to start selling counterfeit magic cards.

Yeah my friends deck is built around Laboratory Maniac and grave yard exhume cards just in case she accidentally milled them into the graveyard. EDIT: Also a lot of walls to and cancels to prevent direct damage. OH BLUE DECKS.
  • Tons and tons of people speculate on magic its like a growing craze in the community. There are people who make a living doing it. You can find articles about it on just about every website that has written magic content. In between the time when people started playing stoneforge mystic and when it was banned my original playset that I bought at 3.50 each went up to a value of around 25 each so i wasn't too unhappy about that.

Also how does no one comment on "He exercises his right to Bear Arms".
  • Does anyone try to speculate magic cards?

Yes, there is practically too many people who only speculate and since the market is based on that speculation and not supply and demand. The main reason is so companies don't miss the next big thing like Tarmogoyf (started at $1), Stoneforge Mystic (started at $2) and Elspeth, Knight-Errant (started at $5).

Hasbro ends up going mafia style on people who counterfeit and actually make any money off of it. $#!+ is scary as hell.
