  • Page delays due to duck foetus and intestinal blockage (not kidding here).

    Very sorry. :(
  • Also car breaking down, me waiting for rides, and birthday bashes.

    My life is shit......
  • Well, it may have taken some time, but at least it's up. Nice page, now we know what those crazy red things were. :D
  • I love the idea of not only electricity but also the needle. Sure, there's the possibility that the needle is there just to make sure the dart sticks in, but there's also a chance that some kind of toxin is included, as an added bonus to the already electrified victim.

Or, for a somewhat more mundane purpose, to make sure the charge gets past any insulating clothing, by punching through to make direct skin contact.

Boring, I'm sure, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, to borrow from Frau^H^Heud.
  • That first panel looks amazing, especially the use of focus on the left, the lighting effects on the right and just the overall composition. Very much worth the slight delay.
  • Hmmm, I forgot about getting through clothing. Too many episodes of Cops shocking shirtless drunks.

    Thanks. Much appreciated! :D

I'm wondering, though, why the team doesn't at least have the successor to kevlar or the thin ceramic armor plates used for today's body armor, neither of which will conduct electricity in and of itself. Both would also protect against hand-thrown projectiles (as well as lower-speed chemical-propelled projectiles).

(Ok, so I'm not wondering really hard. Dramatic licence. :saucy: )
  • They're just cool looking projectiles that shock the crap out of you.
  • Also Daves BZZZT is covering the dart. It hit her below her armor plates.
  • I was just about to say the same thing. Look at the picture on the front page to see what skabs means. Also, great work on the coloring skabs. I really like the way the way this page looks. Someday, the work you do on this site will recommend you highly.
  • [quote="Skabs"]Also Daves BZZZT is covering the dart. It hit her below her armor plates.

I didn't notice that. I'll move it to make it more evident.

But yeah, it seems to be just about everyone's favorite page to date.
  • [quote="Skabs"]Also Daves BZZZT is covering the dart. It hit her below her armor plates.

Yeah, I see it now, after looking at the teaser image on the main FB page (I have the actual comic display page bookmarked, so I don't normally see the teaser).

Still have the question of protection, though. The current Interceptor body armor used by the US Army (the one with the ceramic armor plates I mentioned earlier) goes down to waist level.

Like I said, though, it's not a question I'm worrying too much about, in the long run.

(If I were still actively writing stories and stuff, there's probably at least a dozen different things about which I could be nailed, in regards to realism/accuracy.)
  • I think that just comes down to me not doing proper research. I dunno i may talk to dave about suit upgrades. We shall see!

That could go with the story in a way, having upgrades after seeing that the suits they had weren't protective enough.

Easy enough to retcon, if need be.

"Stupid cheap-ass beancounters not giving us the money to upgrade body armor..."

  • Retcon, who do you think we are? DC?

    Bah! We're infallible!

But really it's a matter of necessity. Like that scene in Blackhawk Down where the guy takes the boron plates out of his armor, citing that he doesn't intend to get shot in the back.

The armor's there to protect heart and lungs, the important gibblebits. Robot encounters have become so routine now that it's really more of a hassle than a help to have that extra armor on when you kill your enemies while they're twenty paces away.

Then again, it seems things have changed...
  • [quote="Dave"]Retcon, who do you think we are? DC?

Hey, fanfic had claims on "retcon" long before Drunken Clowns started using it as an excuse to make no sense whatsoever. :saucy:
  • [quote="Kragar"]Retcon?? :what:

"Retroactive continuity". Long story short, "whoops, we screwed the pooch, and wound up sailing off into the wild blue yonder; let's insert this back here to explain away the change".

(Well, ok, perhaps that's somewhat of a cynical view on the matter.)

For a somewhat less cynical view, Wikipedia on retcon.
  • Yea I dunno, me and dave will work something out. Also i plan on seein dave this weekend so posters will get signed. Hopefully. If hes not drunk. Fat chance.
  • Well, I am Irish...

    Sorry guys... :?
  • On a topic relate to Retracon. Please inform me of this NY con.
  • I just found out that the last three pages don't have the: FirstBeat Chp 5, page X, in the Past Chapters.
