I'm sure I've suggested this before but if you want to watch a show that is just abysmal watch DNA2 (or squared) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk8w4aUkyy4 Its like The Golden Man mixed with Timecop, dragon ball, lots of misogyny, and a harem show. Oh and strawberry milkshake vomit.
Thank you for bringing this gem of a show to my attention. It's like storyboard and animation directors had a sign posted on the wall of their workplace that they were supposed to look at whenever they finished working a segment of the show that said "Can it be more awesome?". The fifth and sixth episodes was just amazing. Human made tornadoes......semi automatic flintlock pistols....Giant Man Robot with Jetpacks.....If you have eyes you should be watching this show.
I'm elated that this show is only 13 episodes so that the price will be well worth the entertainment value when Funimation releases it and that there will be a new season coming out in the Summer. This and the Black Lagoon OVAs might cause me to have an aneurysm if I watch them too close together because I doubt my brain could handle the sheer amount of awesome.

Looks interesting. [quote="OnePixelJumpMan"]Ok, there are two OVAs for Spirit Warrior. The first is from 1988 and was directed by Ichiro Itano, director of Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and the second from 1994 was directed by some guy going by Rintaro who directed Dagger of Kamui. I think from that we can call either one a potential winner.

I watched a few episodes of Mezzo on Netflix Instant, and I think it definitely has Fast Karate potential. It's completely retarded, created by Doggy Style Umetsu, a non-pornographic sequel to a porno movie, and contains evil barbers.
How about Giant Robo: The Animation? I know Daryl Surat talked about it a while ago on AWO, but I think it more than deserves the Fast Karate treatment - it's both awesome and also hilarious at times. Just sayin'.
http://cottoncandyafros.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/chobits.jpg 'bout a dude who wants to fuck his robot
After about a year since I started watching it, I was finally able to complete the series this mourning. I'm biased because I have an unreasonable hatred towards humans falling in love with robots and vice-versa, so I don't truly know if this is a bad show or not. But I think it is one.
[quote="Gokiburi_Chachacha"]Of course it's bad. The robot's 'ON' switch is in her vagina. That's an automatic fail. You can't recover from that. That's almost verbatim what I tell people who bring this show up around me. And frankly, with the thing acting all autistic and infantile, it just looks worse and worse in retrospect.
I just have this irrational fear that one day I'll find the girl I want to marry and on our wedding night, she'll reveal that she's a robot. And then I might not be able to break up with her and I'll be some kind of a sick robophile
or worse
Spoiler:
I find out that I'm a robot and the girl breaks up with me. And my robot memory will keep every single second of her breaking up with me on my video files and I will be sad forever.
I've been watching Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 for the first time recently, and back when I saw Solty Rei, I saw one of the earliest scenes where two women in skintight power armor fight a humanoid robot. Despite that I'd not seen either at this point, I thought, "This is a total rip-off of Bubblegum Crisis." While watching 2040, I thought back on that and decided to see if I was correct or not. Well, despite that the power armor is doesn't come up that often, or possibly never again, it's a dead on rip-off of the hard suits. The only differences are the colors and that the girls don't have complete helmets. The Nene rip-off even has that absurd needle gun.
Solty Rei, however, isn't that entertaining to watch. Still, since there's that moment of plagiarism, it would be easy to use as a way to reminisce about Bubblegum Crisis and therefore worth watching.
You can watch the first four episodes on Funimation's website here.
I think Roujin Z would make a great podcast. It's fun, poignant, ridiculous, and pretty much fodder for the fast karate treatment.
Here are some other suggestions off the top of my head:
Golden Boy
Aquarion (if you can get past the first episode... I couldn't )
Irresponsible Captain Tylor
And yeah, as was mentioned recently, Berserk. Good show, except that I hated the ending, but since Dave hasn't seen it, that's all I'm gonna say about it. Maybe he'll have a different opinion.
Aquarion has the amazing ability to switch back and forth between being totally awesome and mind shittingly retarded. There are about 2-4 really excellent moments in the series that almost make it worth watching, but then the rest of the series happens. And it's for free on Hulu.
The Guyver (the 1st 6 part OVA series from the 80s, not the sequel) it's hyper-violent-close to Fist of North Star levels and the original dub is horribly fantastic.
Genesis Surviver(sic) Gaiarth - A post-apocalyptic, robots and Sorcery 3 part OVA series with some kick-ass music. 80's rock and roll hair and laser swords with cords like electric guitars.
I took a glance over the archives and saw that you guys have never done a podcast specifically on Trigun. Joel has expressed some affection for it in the past, but I'm interested in a more full discussion on it since Trigun is awesome but can have those goofy anime moments that are kinda dumb. I dunno, it's been a while since I've watched it too, so it'd be fun to reminisce. It's for free on Hulu.
Another idea is Chobits. I think I heard a rousing about Chobits a while back and still think it's a good idea. We did a podcast on it as well and got some good material out of it, so it's something to consider.
could you rag on this show? i think it deserves at least a little fast karate in its face out of principle. although i could understand not wanting to watch it at all in the first place. It is as the great sage Daryl Surat once said "you can almost always judge anime by its cover" http://www.crunchyroll.com/panty-and-stocking-with-garterbelt
I was looking forward to the Panty and Stocking due to the Tartakovsky style of animation and creative team behind it. After seeing about 5 or 6 episodes I'm the camp that doesn't think it's a good show. I really just can't understand how people find it funny. I wouldn't say I hate it, I just find it as funny as waking up to a tarantula on your face.
