  • Ian, I forgive you for being consistently and willfully wrong about Cobra, which is the greatest action movie (featuring Briggette Nielsen eating french fries) ever made.
  • Yeah that was a bit of an inside dig at Mr. Gooberzilla about the Stallone movie. I've never watched Space Adventure Cobra. Heard good things just never had the chance or made the effort.
  • I don't have anything, I posted something that was already clarified.
edit: Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai or I don't have any friends or Haganai (because Japan loves dumbass nicknames for things), that looks terrible and is on Hulu.
  • What are you talking about?!!! That show is great and super funny.

    And Sena is stacked!
  • Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai or I don't have any friends or Haganai

I don't think that's the right kind of bad.
  • I don't have high hopes for a show that's episode titles all end in emoticons.
  • "It's an OK series. For some reason I thought it was going to be a very serious show, but it was pretty light hearted in the same vein of Slayers or other 90s anime. It didn't impress me enough to watch past the first 3 or 4 episodes, but I also didn't feel that I wasted my time seeing it."

Haha no shit I totally though the same thing when I was about to watch the show for the first time. There is just so deeply intriguing about the title that the last thing you suspect is some milk toast comedy lodoss waresque show. Just thinking about record of Lodoss War makes me want to rewatch it. Haven't seen it in about 10 years and wonder if it is an epic adventure as I remember it was as a kid.

Honestly it is not worth watching the whole show because after the 12th episode they explode the spell fragments again and have to go stripping elves all over again except this time they have a court order that legally allows them to strip elves...dumb shit indeed.
  • FACT: The Glass Fortress is the greatest episode of Golgo 13 ever.

OPINION: As far as we have seen so far...

In the manga, Golgo 13 did the same thing on a super cannon that the Iraq's were building during the Gulf War to launch a nuke or something on America. Lets just say, the right shot undernief the cannon was able to level like 5 square miles of Iraq to make it more flat than ever.
  • "episode"!

It's just the perfect storm of bad dubbing, questionable physics, ludicrous drama, and villains taking ten solid minutes to say nothing more than "ain't no way he gonna make that shot!"
  • I'm not asking for another episode, but I'd love to know if a second viewing of Redline with the dub would have any effect on your opinions. I'm curious because a) I saw it recently and can't wait to watch it again and b) saw a few minutes subbed and couldn't imagine giving even the small amount of focus to anything but the visuals.
  • The Redline dub is pretty good, too; never even occurred to me to watch it subbed.
  • I got the bluray last week but haven't had a chance to watch it with an audience yet. Hopefully that should come up sometime soon.
  • The dub didn't really change my opinion of the film. I think it's just an OK movie. It was nice to be able to concentrate on the visuals, but it did not make me think higher of the movie.

  • I preordered the blu-ray and bought a blu-ray player over the weekend to watch it. I'm one of those people who thinks Speed Racer is one of the best movies I've ever seen, so naturally I absolutely loved Redline.

I enjoyed Speed Racer, I thought that was a great movie, which in my mind was "FUTURISTIC INITIAL D" at the time (my thought of it when I saw the movie, before I'd ever heard of Redline).
  • hmmm...reccomendations? Shadowskill the movie and tv series. There was an anime from the 90's came on Saturday anime(SciFi Channel) about an old man in a robo-bed that took on the persona of his dead wife and went rampaging through the city just to get his old as to the beach. I can't remember the name of it though i think AWO did a episode on it.

what about Gale Force: Eternal story, Taru the Dragon Boy, Devil Man, Devil Lady. I also watched legend of the Millennium Dragon which was pretty cool.

hopefully this helps you guys with Anime for the show
  • I do believe there was a Shadow Skill episode, but I may just remember the AWO review of it. And I think the old man one is named Roujin Z, or something thereabouts. I remember watching that and it not immediately clicking that the bed wasn't trying to kill the guy. Who would've thought anime could be confusing?
  • that bed was some serious nightmare fuel, hospitals and i were not on the best speaking terms then they show you this mecha doom bed possessed by his dead wife fuck that shit, Oh they could talk about Mazin Kizer SKL that was an epic lil show saw it at Anime Festival Orlando was pretty freaking sweet
  • Dark Cat: Shapeshifting cats fight the evil of humanity, as represented by tentacle cancer.
  • Has anyone suggested Sengoku Basara yet? That show is pretty crazy. Crazy in an AWESOME way.
  • How about some Lupin? Either more films or you guys could take a look at the series that aired this year, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.
  • Dont you guys got more Golgo 13 Tv to review?

If you mean "Gall" Force, then yea that is a pretty good one. I own pretty much that whole series ranging from VHS to DVD, but I don't have Revolution. If they stick to Eternal Story, Destruction and Stardust War, that is pretty much the essential Gall Force trilogy to watch/review. But, Earth Chapter and Rhea I feel are probably much funner to watch and review.
  • There hasn't been an entire 2040 episode yet, right? There's a few minutes about how big Dave's boner for Priss is in the front of the Baoh episode and it comes up every time you talk about anything else BGC, but that's all I remember.

You should probably have 26 2040 episodes too.
  • I get a fanboy boner for Priss all the time, but more so for the original BGC. 2040 is a series I need to re watch again, its been like 10 years since the last time I sat down and watched it.
  • 2040 can be best thought of as a roller coaster. It starts all right, climbs to some good places where you can take a break, then you find out the terrible secret of the hard suits and it's all downhill from there. I dunno, it gave me Linna in a business suit. It's the tackiest business suit in the world, but I'll still take it.
  • They dressed Priss up to look from hot punk biker chick, to dolled up biker chick. I will also take that.
  • Starship Troopers: Invasion looks like it could yield some good podcasting material.
  • I dont think they ever covered the 1988 OVA from Sunrise that... isn't all that bad.
  • Animated adaptations seem to have been kind to Starship Troopers.
  • If you're taking anime suggestions again, I'll through out Digital Devil Monogatari Megami Tensei.

    image
"Handsome high school student Akemi is a computer genius. One day a new girl, Yumiko, transfers to his class from another school. She quickly falls in love with Akemi but, absorbed in his computers, he pays her no attention at all. The reason for his absorption is the monster he has created with those same computers. Digital Devil has become his own evil genie, and Akemi summons this devil after school and sets it to work wreaking revenge on his enemies"

The Megami Tensei franchise is known to be a little crazy and I'm sure this OVA is in keeping with that.
  • Sounds plausible.
  • I thought that was Ogre Slayer, which is this:

I would post up a link when my old podcast reviewed this like a year and a half ago, but.... that is a really bad episode. Just like this anime.

Ill check BakaBT to see if they got Megami Tensei on there.
  • The live action Fist of the North Star movie is up on Netflix streaming. It's supposed to suck shit, so it might be worth a try.
  • Detective Conan/Case Closed: The 14th Target had one of my favorite Conan endings ever.
  • It's true. The Phantom of Baker Street is also pretty good because it's Conan vs. Jack the Ripper.

  • The live action Fist of the North Star is not that bad, actually. It's my second favorite movie featuring Zombie Malcolm McDowell.
  • It's Doomsday the first?
  • Its a bad movie, but your enjoyment out of it will be worth it @OPJ.
