The World's Worst Anime Club

    So, with each new anime season, I embark on a quest to find the absolute worst of the worst; the one series in each season that's so awful it actually burns a little. I then try and see how much of it I can make myself watch. In the past, this has included such shows as Ai Yori Aoshi (8 out of 24), Ikkitousen (all of season one, 2 ep. into season two, none of season three), Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu (whole season! A winner is me?) and, last season, Akikan! (3 episodes. Too boring).

    While this practice is a bit misguided and possibly a little sad when I do it by myself, I think that, as a group, this could turn into something fun, if not something resembling fun. Here's my idea: We pick a series, watch it, and then discuss in the forums how hilariously terrible it is. That's what we're going for here: hilariously terrible. I wasn't clear about that before but yes, hilariously terrible.

    Which brings me to my next point: the inspiration for wanting to start this "club". The show I'm currently watching to this end is "Tayatama: Kiss On My Deity". It is world-class terrible. This show is filled with everything you could imagine that makes people point at anime and say "This stuff is terrible and this is why". It's so terrible it's fantastic.

    So, people, if you're interested, catch up with me (there's only 4 episodes out there) and let's do this. Or, if you think you've got a better suggestion, let's hear it.

    I have a vent server that isn't getting any use. You guys are welcome to use it if you like. Vent also lets you record the chat to if somebody is up for doing that.

    If dudes are willing to go whole hog on this and do some recording, I'm down for that. I was proposing something more casual, but I'm into whatever. We could do something like Dave and Joel do with 24, except every week we'd discuss another episode of a truly atrocious anime.

    Would we need to think of a snappier name than The World's Worst Anime Club? Probably, right? I'm terrible at naming things.

    If they ever introduce that Netflix Party functionality they talked about when they brought it to Xbox Live it seems like it would be pretty suited to this!

    Haha, I bought my copy of vhs Angel Cop long ago not knowing what it was but seeing that chick with the tight leather body suit thinking "This is awesome looking!". Then I always had to hide it from my mom (same with Ghost in the Shell).

    I'm disappointed that I missed out on this, though I've watched some of that anime and it is, indeed, quite terrible. Y'all need to be watching Tayutama though. THAT shit is off the chain! I'll give you a rundown of the beginning of episode nine... The dog-girl goddess who is in love with the male protagonist is offered a hot-springs trip by Nabe-shin of Excel Saga fame and has the standard onsen-back-washing fantasy. Then, the male protagonist's childhood friend is upset, and his more traditionally japanese-looking best friend with a chin-strap beard who wears a baseball hat is upset at him because he's too dense to notice that the childhood friend is in love with him. Next up: Bat wings!

    I meant to say anime, and Ellen sure as hell ain't anime. Just the implication that Nanoha and Fate were lesbians made that show 10x better than it already WAS.

    StrikerS thank you very much. That implied relationship was the only thing holding that show together (shitty story, shitty side characters). The original was crap but A's had alot of cool shit.

    Holy shit. I just watched episode 2 Gautaman. Such an awesome episode. I will go as far to say that it was more entertaining than Apocalypse Zero and I don't say that lightly. When is the second episode going to be streamed?
