Hmmm. I don't own any kind of PlayStation and probably will continue not to, so it might be deceptive of me to send such an e-mail. However, what I've heard of the game probably warrants it.
You bring this thread back up with nothing more than a link and had my hopes soaring. I hope you die a painful death. Preferably, brutally slashed by ZoE discs.

Spare him his life. Because of his actions, this thread was brought to my attention and convinced me to send an email.
[quote="shaloop"]Yeah, but the ZoE2 re-release can be seen as a hopeful sign that there will be more ZoE in the future.
If only that were the case.
I've seen how these Japanese cats operate. Konami has been dragging their feet on something like this for far too long, and the market for this game is so limited. The re-release will cost them next to nothing, and then they will cite the ultimately laughable sales figures as justification for not making a sequel. It's just like the bullshit Sega's pulling, citing only selling 40,000 copies of Yakuza 2 despite it not featuring English dialogue, not being marketed at all, and not being released in the U.S. on a system that was at all still relevant as reason to not bother with a U.S. release of Yakuza 3 or Yakuza Kenzan. It all makes me wish that I were young so that I could learn Japanese without having to fight against the myelination typical of somebody in their late twenties.

It's debatable as to whether American or Japanese companies are more risk-averse. Every enthusiast looks at a niche franchise they love, and sees a huge well of untapped potential for mainstream appeal, every committee looks at a niche franchise as an expensive failure waiting to happen. A high-profile media blitz could result in a break into mainstream gaming, or it could be throwing money into a pit.

I think its worth the risk if you think your game is worth the time to bring to US audience. It goes back to my argument with Yakuza. If the first game didn't do so hot sales wise why make the effort to bring the 2nd game over? Maybe i'm being optimistic but Konami will probably make a ZOE3.
Even the people at Konami are going shit nuts for a ZoE3. The problem is... will Kojima be directing it? Because, like, I think the lack of him is what made ZoE2 really soar.

I hate to say it, but as far as the news on this is concerned, he seems to be talking about it as if it's his next project. Although, then again, I'm sure Kojima productions is busy as hell on two simultaneous Metal Gear projects, so maybe he'll hand it off to a much less crazy, much more capable protege and take on a production or consulting position. Here's to hoping on the later, although I actually still liked ZOE1, even though ZOE2 is basically one of the best Mecha games along with Virtual On and the Super Robot Wars series, although GunGriffon and Front Mission get props too.
I love how that states that Kojima promises that a ZOE sequel will be made eventually. It's almost like Kojima is expecting the game to be finished around the time Duke Nukem Forever comes out. Which is the equivalent of saying, " You know that game you've been waiting for for over six years. We may actually get to that at some point."
