  • If you look at the data they've gathered so far, they're not outside the boundaries of simple random chance. You'd get similar results by flipping a coin.
  • You probably added in your site and weren't happy with the results I take it?
  • Oh, that is glorious. I need to look over the site dashboard to see if there's a way for me to put "62% Written by a Woman" or something similar as a tagline.

I wonder what the criteria for that are. I wonder if I just use a lot of a specific word set that comes on female blogs since it said "text declassifier," though I'm also willing to believe that it's because we're a largely anime blog and I posted that picture of bishonen Cars recently. Well, as bishonen as JoJo's gets anyway.
  • Huh, I analyzed the blog I had before I abandoned it for facebook, and it was 54% sure it was written by a woman. Then I analyzed the website I had started to post my sketches (woefully out of date), and it was 78% sure it was written by a woman. I guess I'm turning into a girl.
  • It must be just gushing with estrogen.
  • "He's terrible at making games. Metal Gear is good in spite of him."

I dunno I kind of agree with him on that one. Though I'm a spiteful ball of hate when it comes to Metal Gear and it's accolades.
  • MGS is old enough now that it's cool to declare that we all knew it was kind of crap.
  • Metal Gear was good for its time. However Kojima should never ever be given free reign over a story. Let him come up with an idea for a game but then give all decision making on it to someone else.
  • I like MGS, 2 onward is when he became hot shit and he bugs the crap out of me. Smarmy douche. I liked 2 well enough, even though cutscenes were wearing on my nerves hardcore, until the very end and then he can go fuck himself. 3 I liked the story and idea but the controls made it difficult for me to finish. 4 I loathe.
  • MGS4 is the only Metal Gear game I've ever played, and I liked it quite a lot. Did I do it wrong?
  • No, I love all the MGS games.
  • Never played a Metal Gear game.
  • Not a big fan of one, just due to the archaic controls, but everything else I love, ridiculous story and overlong cutscenes 'n all. Whatever you think of his writing, Kojima is good at making games.
  • The controls are always over complicated and hard to get used to for me.
  • Part of the problem was that Metal Gear Solid was a cover-shooter game made before cover-shooters existed.

To be honest, Deus Ex HR feels a lot like playing an MGS game.

Kojima has made plenty of great decisions when it comes to game design and gameplay. Holding out as long as possible against the people who wanted to play the game first person comes to mind. I love his directing, but I'll definitely agree he's not a good writer. But the same is true of Jonathan Blow on Braid: great game, completely overwrought story done by douche auteur who thinks he's a genius. Maybe they're the temperamental artists of our time in this new medium. Some part of me prefers that uncompromising vision of one person approach to games, as opposed to the bolted together mishmash focus tested into oblivion to make another rental title to put on a Gamefly list.

Also, let's get some perspective, this is not the guy who made Cave Story talking, this is a guy who worked on localizing it. Opinions are like assholes, and who gives a fuck what this guy thinks?

There it is! I know tons of people off hand that think Kojima makes a bunch of stupid bullshit. The only reason this guy's opinion is news worthy is because he was kind of connected to a popular indie game.
  • I always thought the crazy was why everyone loved MGS games? I hate stealth games but I love Kojima's wackiness.
  • The crazy is fine. I like the crazy. Taking 10 minutes to not tell me anything, while also taking my input away, is being an asshole.
  • but its not really connected Nicalis is like the 3rd company that has localized Cave Story.
  • That crunchy roll story really boils down to: some guy some where that you've never heard said bad things about Kojima.

Yea, its pretty much was another version of MGS, which is probably why I liked it so much.

Ive always enjoyed the original MGS game, MGS4 was my second fave, followed by 3 then 2. I really liked MGS4, but it was an MGS game that once I beat it, I was content and didn't feel like I needed to play it 4 or more times over like I did with MGS 1-3. Maybe the reason was I got older and I just didn't feel the need to replay it again, or my burning passion on how I thought MGS games were fantastic to play had died down over the years, or I had no desire to see if I could do a speed run of the game (I was able to beat MGS3 in 4 hours, but that was on Very Easy mode). Either way, I enjoy them a lot, but they were good for their time when they came out and when I had the time to dedicate to playing them, because I had nothing to do during my high school years. But yea, MGS is cool for me.
  • The Hitman games (with the exception of the first one, which was PC-only) are better at what Metal Gear Solid does than Metal Gear Solid is. Way more fun to play, IMO, especially the most recent one, Blood Money.
  • Did Steam prank the crap out of me or something? The Hitman game I downloaded controlled like a rusty shopping cart and looked like polygonal butt. I was suspicious because the file was only 400 megs or so and it was a PS2 era game, but now I'm really wondering...
  • I've played the demo of Blood Money and it was fine, though I played that one on 360 in a bygone age.
  • I've also been playing them on consoles so again, maybe it's a PC version problem.
  • Could be a bad port. Fuck you Resident Evil 4&5 PC...
  • I played Blood Money and Contracts On PC. Both were fine.
  • Wow, they really are small enough to fit on a CD. Paul just put in Blood Money, that one's 4 gig.
  • I'll give Blood Money a try. Hopefully it fixes the problems I was having with Hitman 2.

Also, now I can't stop thinking of Blood Monkey, starring F. Murray Abraham.

  • That movie was disappointing.
  • Aw, don't tell me that. :-(

Tread softly, for you tread on my dreams.
  • Didn't they already make that movie and it starred Tim Curry and it was called Congo? 'Cause Tim Curry.
  • Congo is a far better movie. The whole time I was watching Blood Monkey I was hoping for hot monkey death by diamond lasers, but it did not happen.
  • I believe Congo starred Ernie Hudson. Tim Curry may have been present as well, but hey, Ernie Hudson.
  • Oh god dammit getter...that avatar is killing me.
  • What? You love the Sting in a Thong Dune.
  • I can't decide between that or Jake Busey.

    image
  • The horror, the horror...
  • The teeth, the teeth...
  • The fiddle, the fiddle...
  • I like that Dune yes, but there are parts of it that make me want to cry. That is one of them.

  • Jake Busey and Sting are always on topic.

    and so is this
  • Are there more than those two? Because I want to cover all the walls in my house in them.
  • No but they are posters so you won't need as many.
