I'd no idea this had happened until after a test this morning. A couple of classmates were talking about how our school had gotten on Tosh.0.

I knew something like that would be on Tosh.0, so its no surprise. I wonder if she will get a web redemption.

After reading Mobile Frame Zero, I am probably going to go to walmart to buy a lego set to make a mech, which this is the first time in forever I have wanted to build something with legos.

I don't think this was a wise choice for Obama's official White House presidential portrait.

He's pointing to Article I, Section...6? So he's burning the Constitution because he doesn't think that Congressional representatives should be paid?

  • Finally, a new Cronenberg movie I hopefully won't have to wait until it hits DVD because there are no fucking art house theatres conveniently located near me to see it in!

Redband trailer btw, so somewhat NSFW despite most of this just being jump cuts.
  • Love Cronenberg. Been waiting for his next for a long time! Also I love seeing his shit in theatres. A History of Violence was really good in a theatre, as was The Fly.
  • I dunno. I like a decent bit of his recent stuff, but that trailer just didn't do anything for me.
  • It was the twilight guy that kills the trailer.
  • Yay, weird shit and fucking. It's every Cronenberg movie.
  • Hey, weird shit and fucking are two of my favorite things.
  • Fucking weird shit is my favorite thing.
  • I myself am partial to weird shit-fucking.
  • Pfft Paul, don't act like you've ever had sex with anything.
  • Well, there was this one time in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico...
  • If paul has never had sex with anything, then how did he give me space herpes?
  • That wasn't Paul. That was a dog wearing a paper mask of Paul he printed out on a dot matrix printer.

That's pretty much what the description of the video said. I'm guessing that the topic on which she went off has been weighing heavily on her mind.

Update: Student’s Violent Reaction to Trayvon Martin Sends a Strong Message
  • I can understand being upset about Trayvon Martin's death, but I don't think it's wise to have a screaming meltdown in the middle of a college classroom during a lecture on an unrelated subject.

EDIT: Also, how does the author know the Martin killing had anything to do with the young lady's behavior?
  • Yeah just the other day people were posting that without linking it to the Trayvon Martin killing.

Also, the author shared your opinion about the obvious inappropriateness of her behavior. She's obviously got some issues.
  • This is the first I've heard of them talking about Trayvon Martin in class.

They weren't. They were talking about natural selection. She obviously went off on something that - although not directly related to the class - was weighing heavily on her mind: “How does evolution kill black people?” There is good reason to believe said topic was related to Trayvon Martin's death, which is frankly weighing heavily on many minds.
  • The article you linked to very clearly states that it was a discussion in class on Martin. "I watched in shock as a young Black woman at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) became violent in class during a discussion on the death of the late Trayvon Martin."
  • Can you point out which link specifically? I posted a few, and I can't find what you're referring to.

Edit: Never mind, I found it. I'm not sure what she's talking about. In fact, I think that statement is incorrect. With that said, I'm not defending that lady's actions, I'm just saying that the frustration that led to her outburst was not built up in a vacuum.
  • Sorry about that, I wasn't very clear. I agree that this wasn't some completely random outburst, and given the interview she did the previous day it was likely born out of the death of Martin.
  • I admit to skimming that article so maybe I missed it, but the most terrifying thing I took away from it was that they didn't seem to give any hint as to where the hell the worm came from.
  • There's a guess at the end: "Mr Slater said Barry, who has now been relocated to his own tank, probably arrived as a juvenile in a delivery of living rock from another aquarium." Why it would be in there, I couldn't tell you.

I'm curious as to how they discovered that "permanent numbness." You think they guessed from a fish or that someone was unfortunate enough to touch it?
  • Favorite part:
Matt Slater, the aquarium's curator, said: 'Something was guzzling our reef but we had no idea what, we also found an injured Tang Fish so we laid traps but they got ripped apart in the night.

'That worm must have obliterated the traps. The bait was full of hooks which he must have just digested.'
  • This is not spam. This is a website that sells you razors and has a fantastic commercial on it's homepage. I shave my head, so I guess I'm biased.

Oh yea, I totally see the connection between the natural selection of Peacocks and injustice to the African American community. It all makes perfect sense.

  • Didn't that Ben Stein movie a few years back try to say that teaching Evolution caused the Holocaust?
  • Oh, he tried all right. People still give him shit for that, rightfully so.

The top line on the blackboard says "The consent of the governed is a good thing in theory, but very rare in fact."
  • Silent Hill's art director thinks the HD remake is terrible because they gave it a draw distance and as such the world seems to disappear at points that would have been blocked by the fog of war.
  • Kinda glad I decided to pass on it for now after reading about that earlier today.
  • Yeah, I like the part where the lack of fog makes it obvious that the lake abruptly stops fifteen feet from the shore. Fuck that.
  • Welp, time to trawl Gamestop for used copies, as I probably shouldn't trust Amazon too much. I can't believe I've actually gone this long without playing them.
  • How can you have a Silent Hill game without fog? Fog is like Silent Hill's chief export. They package that stuff up and ship it out in boxes to other creepy, haunted towns...
  • I don't even know why these were made. HDing games is an odd fad. Leave them as they were unless you are actively fixing how they run like with Shadow of the Colossus. That needed a fix, everything else could have just been rereleased. Or even remade but this half assed stuff is getting stupid.

It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that every one is so obsessed with how a game looks. It's 10 years old, that's how it looked, enjoy it for what it was. It's the Hollywood colorizing all over again.
  • I know it's just cheap cashing in, but I'm okay with packaging up old games and putting them out on a new console. I'm a big fan of the MGS HD collection because it let me get my favorite metal gear solid game on a current console and it's one less reason I have to keep the old PS2 in the closet. I was pumped about the Silent Hill collection for the same reason, but then they somehow actively made it worse, so I've passed. Which is a shame, because I still don't own a copy of 3.
  • I'm fine with collections. Don't waste money and time HDing the games when you can use those people and hours to make something new.
  • I view it as akin to re-releasing movies in two/three packs on BluRay; not necessary per se, but nice to own in prettier form at a relatively cheap. Plus, especially in the case of Ico/Shadow, and eventually ZOE, it'll give some exposure of less well-known titles in the west to a new generation of gamers in a form they won't have to pay out their ass for used copies for, and I can definitely get behind that. Unfortunately, we were bound to hit this type of thing eventually, it's just a shame it had to be Silent Hill that got it.
