Never underestimate doing something for the value of doing it. That attitude has gotten us some of the greatest scientific achievements in history.

He wants to be able to mass produce and sell them. It's not just a Ben Heck style, cool little proof of concept kind of thing. He wants to sell it to people -- people who presumedly still have a functioning NES, or even know what one is, for them to use. So like I said, a cool concept but I don't see the value in it.

So, a question: is Alien 3 worth checking out? I've read all about the troubled production and history and such, and I know Fincher disavowed it, but I really like his movies, and think it looks pretty interesting even if it didn't turn out as he envisioned.

It may be my love for Jeunet but I like Alien Resurrection and as much as I like Fincher as well, Alien 3 is the weakest one in terms of being entertaining for me.

@Gokiburi: See, that's why Alien Resurrection is personally baffling for me: it was so stupid even the mere presence of Ron Perlman couldn't make it watchable for me. It did have a pretty cool look to it though.

Maybe I haven't seen it in a while but why is there so much hate for Resurrection? I remember it being the most action-y one after Aliens which is probably everybody's favorite.

The action isn't necessarily why it's everyones favorite. The cloning was stupid, the mercs were generic and stupid. It was bad late 90s action tropes.

I agree with you about the cloning but they needed an excuse to bring back Sigourney. Everything else was fine with fine, except maybe the robot Winona.

I think the best part of Alien Resurrection was how the original design of the "hybrid" alien from the end was pretty much just a giant gaping vagina with Alien arms, legs, and head. Something out of Wicked City, sort of thing.
