Lost Metropolis Footage!!!
  • So apparently they think they finally found the lost footage from Fritz Lang's masterpiece Metropolis.

  • Would I be in the minority if I said I've never seen this? That's still pretty cool to find the missing parts after 80+ years... Maybe when they release the restored movie with this discovered stuff in 2009 I'll try to watch it.
  • Metropolis is amazing. Kino released it on dvd a long time ago.
  • Whoa, interesting. I got to see this in a theater with a band scoring it live; I'm going to have to check out the new footage once this (presumably) makes it out on DVD.
  • I've never seen this movie either. It's been on my list for a while.
  • "All right... we've got one last post for you today, because this just couldn't wait until Monday. We've just heard back from our friends over at Kino International. The good news is that they have officially confirmed that the newly-discovered footage from Fritz Lang's original version of Metropolis (which we mentioned yesterday) WILL be a part of the forthcoming special edition Blu-ray Disc release in 2009. What's more, the new special edition will be released on standard DVD format as well on the same day."

    Sweet.
  • Thank God I hadn't bought this yet.
  • Well I already have the really good current Kino release but this is totally worth double dipping on. I'm super excited about finally seeing the entire film.
  • I just found out that they are showing this with the added footage tonight near where I live. I wish I could go see it but I will have to wait for the DVD.
  • Aw, you should see! We saw it and it makes the movie both much better and more important, it makes the movie make much more sense.
