  • Oh, well I guess it's not technically innuendo if they say shit like "I can't wait to feel you inside of me!"

    So. There's that.

With the Purge mechanic, a Reyvateil in battle can progressively disintegrate her costume in order to expose more of her skin to the stars which give her power. The less she is wearing, the more powerful her magic.

  • I guess that does count as innuendo, but the game is just so much more overt in other ways. Aka, stripping down to power up. The other games were subtle in their innuendo.

  • After almost a year since I started it, I finally beat Persona 4. It's not really a big accomplishment, but I believe it's the first game I've beaten since Heavy Rain came out last year. The only disappointment is that I didn't read the strategy guide, so I missed the "true" ending.

I never play JRPGs anymore without a guide. Takes too long without one and you miss tons of things.
  • I guess that does count as innuendo

No, I was being sincere. There's no way you can call the shit in this game innuendo.
  • It really is innuendo since you dive into the souls of the girls to level them up...unless that actually isn't innuendo. I guess I will have to play more to find out.

    Use this.
  • Drove 30 miles today to get a used copy of Dragon Quest V because I didn't want to pay upwards of 60 USD for it. Surprisingly, it came with the original box and manual. Its pretty fun so far.

Is this the Dragon Quest game that people hold up as the greatest of the lot?
  • Square Enix didn't seem to ship a lot of copies of V.
    7 or 8
  • DQ5 has some of the best narrative structure in JRPGs, it's true.

You could easily argue that it's a very low bar.
  • Monster Tale is at my local Best Buy according to best buy's website. So it's either that or Okamiden, mmmm...

Actually meant to post this is the Monster Tale thread, oh well.
  • I'm playing Dragon Age 2, and trying to avoid any game breaking bugs... I'm really enjoying it so far. I started Demon's Souls as well. Not too bad or hard so far, but I've barely played it. I also got Tactics Ogre in the mail yesterday, but I don't know when I'll get to that.
  • Crysis 2. Spoilers: It's still Predator - The Game.
  • Shake shhh shhhake it shhh shake it shake it like a Polaroid pichaaaa.

Serisously, if you have steam aannnnnnd like cheap fun. Buy lead and gold right now 75% off weekend and if you are a asshole then just play it for free until sunday. The best fun to payment ratio next to a freebie from a pirate prostitute.

PS. Holy crap get this game now you monster Lead and Gold for only $2.50 until 10 am tomorrow!

No shit this is actually a little fun AND IT UNLOCKS ITEMS IN DRAGON AGE 2 FOR YOU TO USE OMG
  • What's the verdict on the new Ghostbusters game on Steam, guys? I know it's $10, but that's two chicken shwarmas. I don't want to waste shwarmas if the game is shitty.
  • One of my friends said it was bad.
  • Crysis 2. Spoilers: It's still Predator - The Game.

So far I'm pretty sure you can stealth past every enemy except for the ones that they make you kill. Makes me feel dumb for carrying around a sniper rifle and NEVER using it.

  • I hear the new Ghostbusters game is pretty terrible: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03/24/ghostbusters-sanctum-of-slime-review-pc/ Too bad, since I enjoyed the first one.

I went out of my way to kill a few of the enemies in Crysis 2 that I could have snuck past, mostly so I could pick up on the suit upgrades... but I admit I like having the option to just ditch them and move on.
  • I can't put down Dragon Quest V. Its just too damn good for its own good. I'm mid chapter 2 right after you get married.

The marriage had a pretty awesome line in it: "For as long as you both shall be resurrected from death in the church". Stay classy Dragon Quest.
  • I just finished Yakuza 4. Probably my favorite of the entire series so far. They brought back everything that should have been in Yakuza 3. Most notably for me, mahjong. I really enjoyed the new characters and this is a trend that I would like to see continue into future Yakuza games (if they make any more).
  • That's funny. I finished Yakuza today too, and I thought it's the weakest one yet. If I had to rate them it's 2 > 1 >>>> 3 ~= 4.

I felt there was really a lack of a strong antagonist in this one, though having four characters with different fighting styles did a lot to ameliorate the boredom that tends to sink in during the later chapters of a Yakuza game. I guess from a gameplay perspective you could argue Yakuza 4 is one of the best, though the leveling system leaves a bit to be desired compared to earlier games.
  • The lack of a primary antagonist did confuse me more than once throughout the game, but I get confused a couple of times every time I play a Yakuza game. I wasn't sure if I would like the new playable characters, but I was surprised when they were all likable and compelling (especially Shun and Taiga).

For me, the weakest part of 4 lies not in the story, but in that the entirety of the game take place in Kamurocho. The reason why I liked Yakuza 2 and 3 was because of the new cities to explore. Even though they did expand the underground and rooftops of Kamurocho, I still think they could have at least added the Osaka location.

I really hope they decide to bring back Kiryu's love interest (Sayama) from Yakuza 2 for the next game. Also, when the hell is Kamurocho Hills going to be completed? Haven't they been working on that since Yakuza 2?

    I would probably say: 2 = 4 > 3 > 1
  • So I finished Crysis 2: The Encrysising. Suit upgrades are a waste of time. The sniper rifle is top notch, they even make up for the fact it has low ammo capacity by giving you ammo drops EVERYWHERE. The walking tank things are infuriating. The story is shit. So in conclusion it looks pretty.
  • I gonna have to agree with Otaku, Yakuza 4 is one of the better ones in the series. Even though the antagonist didn't appear until 3/4ths into the story, it had in my opinion some of the best final boss fights in the games' history.
  • Currently playing Muramasa the Demon Blade, Street Fighter Zero 3, and Samurai Legend Musashi.

On hard mode Zero 3 is much easier than Alpha 3 as the AI cuts you some slack, which I guess is ok. I've never been much of a fan of ball-breaking difficulty anyways. So boost my ego Capcom.

Muramasa's easy enough to play, although I am becoming SUPER obsessed with collecting all the swords since they all look different in battle.

    & Samurai Legend Musashi is a game I should have played in 2001, because right now it is BOOOOORRRING. But I'm suffering through it because I know I would have loved it 10 years ago. ;____;
  • I burned way too much time on the demo of Atom Zombie Smasher tonight. It might be the best zombie game I've ever played; it's a rather innovative little RTS, and you finally feel like you're the guy with the power in the zombie apocalypse (tactical nukes and siege cannons can be used), while still having those overwhelming "Oh-Shit-Zombies-Everywhere" moments than any good zombie game needs. Also, the entire thing is styled as a sort of anachronistic version of the sixties (your mission announcements come with the sound of an old modem handshake) and the game's style is heavily influenced by B-Movies. I definitely got an awesome Repo Man vibe as I shelled several city blocks to clear my LZ while surf punk blared through the speakers.

    Definitely buying this one.
  • 3rd birthday is in some ways nice but the dying part and then restart is a bit annoying.....
  • I started playing Ar Tonelico 3 again...the game might not be very good (the combat is especially terrible) but this game has the greatest backgrounds I have ever seen in a game.
  • I am replaying Bayonetta and I am having fun. This time I am going for the light saber :P
  • On PC I'm playing Dragon Age Origins. Although I hated it when I played it the first time this time I made some right choices and it has been lot more enjoyable.
On Xbox 360 I'm playing mostly Hard Corps, it's hard to disagree with cool contra style action.
And I'm playing Wind Waker on GameCube, late on the party but at least get to experience it finally.

I also play little bit other games, because for me focusing on three games at a time is impossible.
  • I just played through and finished Assassins Creed: Brotherhood. I hate how every game ends on a cliffhanger, but I still can't help but be exited for the next one. This is definitely a series that is progressing and not regressing.
  • Will be getting Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner from Gamefly in the next couple of days, so hopefully that's awesome.
  • I can't believe people have been excited about Super Meat Boy. It's just arbitrary jumping through hoops. I mean, if you enjoy it, then enjoy it. But I can't see all the InterWeb hubbub about it being justified.
  • I bought Pac-Man Championship Edition DX off of the PSN last night, this game is amazing in so many ways. I never thought Pac-Man could actually be fun.

EDIT: Also rented Dead Space 2.
  • Halo: Combat Evolved and Brood Wars.
  • Finished Dead Space 2...once again I should have gotten the 2 day rental. That being said, the game was way more amazing than the first one, but I can't say that its worth the $60 price tag even with the tacked on multiplayer. A $7 or $8 rental, sure.
  • I just got the gold on every event in Hot Pursuit, and because no one on my friends list has that game, I moved back into Pokemon. Just so I can beat the Elite Four and then be done with that too. Want to get back to Crysis. Look down 'dem iron sights.
  • I played through Dead Space: Extraction with my younger sister since the rental copy had it on the disc. It was alright...wasn't very scary at all, and the last few chapters made me want the game to end as it was dragging on too long.
  • Light gun games that try to be real games usually feel like that by the end. I remember having less of an issue with the second Resident Evil light gun game for Wii (Darkside Chronicles)? That game had better enemies and way better weapons. Extraction was kind of only okay to begin with and just seemed to last forever.
  • The games list:

    Borderlands
Re-playing Bioshock in anticipation for the new one
    LoL
    Ragnarok Online
    Modern Warfare 2
    Pokemon Black

    It's like I'm getting a videogame bukkake >_<
  • I just got my copy of Okami for the Wii today and have been playing it some. Its like...a fun Zelda game, except with better art direction and a more awesome protagonist.
  • Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, its a Golden Sun game; you collect djinn, cast spells, change classes. Its pretty good so far if verbose.
  • Been playing Minecraft for the last few months. I think I may have finally gotten it out of my system and I'm reading to maybe move on to another game...
  • I just logged into minecraft again for the first time in a really long time. It still produces in me conflicting feelings of both agoraphobia and claustrophobia. Every time I'm outside, I half expect to get jumped by a creeper (and often am), when I'm digging, I expect every block I destroy to have a skeleton behind it waiting to shoot an arrow at me.

On the plus side, the game has rain. It feels exactly like a rainstorm, including darkening skies, lightning, and this perfect pitter patter. Then, when I got over how beautiful that was, I started thinking about how it would be much easier for a monster to sneak up on me in the rain.

That game needs friendly NPCs. Right now it just feels like everything in this wonderful nature utopia is trying to kill you.
  • Well there's dogs now. They'll be your friends!

Games with really impressive weather systems always please me. It's another thing to look forward to, should I ever play it.
  • I found something on Steam called Universe Sandbox, which is an astronomy simulator. I love astronomy, so I started playing around with it. You can do all sorts of things, such as mess with the mass, density, or positions of objects, run simulations of planet or galaxy collisions and all sorts of nerdy other things. Best part is, you can place a teapot in orbit somewhere between the sun and the earth, that alone made my day.
  • Brilliant.
  • If you can spawn a whale too, I'm in.
