So...What Are You Playing Now?

  • I can't believe I haven't finished it yet..I've finished the first Shenmue twice, to have a save with high stats for the second game..and kinda forgotten about it. I've just started disc 3. oh, i forgot, I'm also trying out Seaman for the first time...I love my DC.
  • If my second Dreamcast wasn't on the verge of burning out (Damn you, Sega), I'd proably play it all damn day.

    Sad, really.
  • Oh, that's unfortunate..my first DC is still going strong (it has like..7 years now?) and I'm actually thinking about buying another one, just in case this one dies..
  • After beating Ratchet...I'm now going through the Uncharted demo...over and over...the guys at Naughty Dog patched the demo so it worked for people outside the US. ! At that point, regardless if I liked the demo or not my pre-order was guaranteed. Fortunately for me, the demo rocked. Great animation, environments, AI, targeting/cover mechanic..it has it all! Yay! Very fun demo. The only complaint I can level at it is that after all the Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Ratchet & Clank I've been playing I'm used to having more nimble characters...they can say he's an everyman til they are blue in the face, but he seemed a little...uncoordinated. Still...this is the one game that (PS3 owners) can finally raise up high and pontificate endlessly about. Yay again!!

Good luck with Disc 4! It's... interesting... to say the least. I'll never look at a campfire the same way again.

I got bored with Hellgate shockingly quickly. The floaty brain assholes attacking from every which way in the same hallway/subway tunnel setting was just too much for me to stomach, regardless of the sweet guns and armor. Diablo 2 had Egypt. That was sweet. I don't see any fucking Egypt in this shit. Get on that, Flagship.

In an attempt at remaining sane until Mass Effect comes out, I've gone back to WoW. Also, I've been playing Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Zombie Ninja Pro-am on PS2. The graphics are surprisingly pleasing on an HDTV and the comedy is solid enough to overshadow the perplexing and often average gameplay.

If my pal doesn't break street date to get me a copy of Mass Effect early, someone's gonna die.

I haven't looked at this game as a "buy" before playing the demo..now I'm on the limbo..I really enjoyed the demo, replayed it a bunch of times, loved the visuals, the enemies comments, the way in which the battles aren't exactly the same in every playthrough..but my aiming is pretty sucky, and I don't know if the full game will be too frustrating to play with my shooting skills. You see, Ratchet had auto-aiming, and I loved it, if I had to aim..not so sure.

    ahah now I'm curious.
  • If Nathan Drake is an everyman I'm a jewish banana with six vagina's. No everyman jumps out of a plane to kill 45 mercenaries with a pistol with dead eye accuracy and make death defying jumps.
  • Nah. Pftt, I did that yesterday, with the Mercanary Killing Sharpshooting Skydiver's Association.
  • Oh I hear you. I'm just saying this because I do this on a monthly basis, but add rocket launchers, panda bears and eye patches. I'm no every man, however.
  • Gears of War + Romancing the Stone = Uncharted
  • I bought an Atari Jaguar at a Good Will store yesterday :D :) :( <img class=" title="Crying or Very sad" /> Possibly, this was not a good plan.
  • Gears of War + Romancing the Stone = Uncharted
Now that game sounds like a lot of fun.
  • Except for the glaring lack of Kathleen Turner.
  • I've been spending a lot of time playing Monster Hunter Freedom 2. If This game was on the PC with online play it would be so awsome.

Lucky for me I actually have 4 people I can sit in a room and play this with, because multiplayer is really what it's all about.
  • An update on me playing FFIII: Why the hell do they even have Scholar as a class? They're totally useless in every conceivable way, and there's a super low-level white magic spell that does the exact same thing as the scholar's special ability thing. Goddammit, Square.
  • Geomancer

    Learn it.

    Love it.

And then stop playing that game, because it's bad.

    :(

I'm the only person I know who even owns a PSP, so my experiences with Monster Hunter have been pretty weak. I can totally see the PSO-esque potential, though, which just makes me hate the entirely shitty online support PSP gets more than I already did.
  • They just put Carcassonne out for free on Live.
  • Its free now? thats fucking awesome

I really want to like Monster Hunter, but it has definately has problems, the lack of online being the most egregious. I could probably forgive its failings for the multiplayer (which i hear is pretty fun) but yeah, I don't actually know anybody around here with a PSP :?

Plus it gets really stupid hard.
  • Speaking of monster hunters, I'm currently playing The Witcher. But I'll be calling it The Twitcher if I don't eventually learn how to time my attacks better. Or maybe I'll just do it the old fashioned way and cheat with magic.
  • Guitar Hero 2.

    *ducks for people throwing debris*

I figured I might as well pick up my axe again, and try to remember what it was like to be good at this game, before I spend money on Guitar Hero III, and the soon to be coming Rock Band.

Xbox 360 is New Years Resolution.
  • Silent Hill: Origins (PSP) - Just started, as long as the combat isn't atrocious I think I'll like this game. Maybe I'll like it anyway. Hope so!
  • I've been playing Kirby Air Ride. I love this game.
  • I finally just broke down and rented The Orange Box, almost just to play Portals.

My fucking God. There can never be enough of that game, can there?
  • I am also a proud player of the Orange box.
  • Orange Box here too. Also about to delve into Medieval II: Total War since I've got a computer now that won't choke on the graphics.
  • I've enjoyed what I played, but I find TF2 a little disorienting since there's no campaign. I'm just automatically thrown into a team game where I have to deal with real people and figure out how each class works. So far I've only experimented with the heavy since he feels the most obvious in purpose, but the very idea of the spy makes my mouth water.

I just generally hate experimenting with a class where I have people dependent on me as a team member.
  • New Super Mario Bros. DS , Man I beat it but know I have to finish the two extra worlds :? , and they are even harder than the final world :?
  • Is there a newer second Super mario DS? Your talking about the one that came out like almsot a year ago right? I found that one enjoyable but rather easy.
  • Yeah it is the old one but it is called "New Super Mario Bros. " It is indeed easy I mean I beat it with about 99 lives but world 5 was harder than world 8. Also I am yet to enter world 7.
  • Call of duty 4, Advanced Wars DS, Metal Gear Solid Acid 2, and World In Conflict until I get Mass Effect for Christmas.
  • Gears of War for the PC.
    The Unreal Tournament 3 Demo.
  • Mass Effect. I'm trying to like GH3.
  • Super Mario Galaxy.

Bioshock, because I finally bought a 360 last weekend.

    Iz r in luv!
  • I was gonna play Mass Effect on my new 360, but decided to wait for the PC version instead. So I rented crackdown.

i wouldnt worry too much about just diving in there and trying things out, i mean, its not like the stakes are particularly high, if people get mad at you for learning how to play then theyre dicks.
Playing a scout is fun because you can run circles around people and shoot them with the shotgun, ive been playing as a demo a lot lately, you only have bombs, no guns so it takes some getting used to but its fun as hell. Sniping is pretty self explanatory, and soldier is also straightforward, stoot at ground/walls and blow people up with your rocket launcher.
It doenst take that much time to get used to, so yeah, try them out, ok thats my proselytising for tf2 for today...
  • Super Mario Galaxy

Its a lot of fun and it provides some uniquely difficult challenges. I think I have 81 of 120 stars now, so it's not taking me as long to get them as mario sunshine or mario 64 but perhaps it's cause I was younger then (Mario 64) or the game was less engaging (sunshine).

Anyway the game is a ton of fun and anyone who has ever loved a 3D mario game should play it.
  • Rock Band with a palate cleansing splash of Contra 4 between play sessions.
  • Was going to start Shivering Isles after downloading from PSN last night, but think I'll go through Assassins Creed first. I spent over 130+ hours in Oblivion earlier this year, so I'd better clear my queue before starting the expansion.

Also, going to start the uncensored version of Manhunt 2 for PSP this afternoon after I patch it. I really liked the 1st one, this new one can't be as bad as everyone says, right? ...

    To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger...

    WRONG
  • Rock Band, Assassin's Creed, and GH3. I have to justify my PS3 purchase somehow.

Finally someone who spent over 100 hours in Oblivion (I'm at like 200 I think, meaning I am hopeless >_>).

Wow! And I thought I got my money's worth! I have high hopes for Shivering Isles.
  • You probably don't want to know the cumulative hours I have spent in GTA: San Andreas and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Probably more hours that I ever spent doing homework.
  • I have Zelda, and have yet to start playing it because I'm afraid...Can I really do it? Won't I suck terribly? What if I hate it, will I be shunned by other gamers, even though I'm not a real gamer?

To make myself feel better I've been playing Amplitude on PS2, and Diner Dash on the DS. Gotta get the balls up for Zelda...

We've already shunned you for A) Not playing it already & B) Not mentioning which of the 600 versions of Zelda you're referring to! :) Just kidding, they're all great and they're all easy. Just take it one dungeon at a time...like my weekends!
  • Strikers, Kirby's Air Ride (some more), and Star Fox 64.

    Bunches. Of. Barrel. Rolls.

Whatever man, I spent more time taking a piss today than I ever did for homework.
