I'm sure lots of people have seen this series from back in the day. I just picked up the set for $20 from Best Buy and I'm watching through it. I kind of like it, but I'm not entirely sure why... The same thing happens in basically every episode, and a lot of the characters are cliched archetypes. But I do really like the crazy world they put together, as well as the character designs.
Or as Sci-Fi Channel used to call it, Iria: Zeiram the Animator. Which made me picture a weird monster with an evil mask with a pen in its mouth, drawing cartoons.
I'm sorry I didn't read Karaokeninja's previous post. Now I look like a jerk.
Joel and I talk about Iria from time to time on the podcast. I wasn't until I was nearly in college that I got the DVD and actually saw the send of the show.
[quote="karaokeninja"]The live action Zeiram movies are both cool, and the first one features comedic idiots ala The Hidden Fortress and many other samurai movies.
Also, fuck Tedan Tippedai. Who directed them though, I forgot his name, he also made Jetman, which is the best sentai ever.
I prefer the live-action Zeirams to the animated ones. The live-action ones feature a hover-umbrella and a fellow munching down on an albino space-cockroach.
I like space umbrellas, tasty space cockroaches (possibly ones that run amusement parks), as well as dopey sidekicks, magic time freeze portals, and real women.
Why wouldn't it be? Have you seen Zeram? Armor designed to stop conventional weapons would just allow you to live long enough to appreciate a truly excruciating death. Battling him in the equivalent of a pillow might just convince him to attack you hard enough for a one hit kill,
Spoiler:
sparing you the slow, painful grip of death by assimilation into your alien possessed brother. Frankly, I don't know why Iria never turns her weird rain stick rifle on herself. That would be phase one of Joel's "I Don't Want to Die Like My Brother Who was Assimilated into an Alien Being of Unfathomable Power" plan.
