  • Dangit, ex! I wanted that one.

Um... are you a fan of Orson Scott Card?
  • Well played Exagenous, well played. I'm not to familiar with Orson's work. I only heard of Enders Game around the time Shadow Complex came out (and when he said all those stupid things).
  • Name's Corey
Trying to finish a degree in criminal justice to get a commission in the USN or to join a federal Law enforcement agency. Honestly I'm just looking for a reason to kick in Dave's door in middle of the night (but not in the creepy I'm gonna kidnap you way..no wait I'm supposed to keep that to myself).B een listening to the show since it's inception and keep a playlist of my favorite shows which keep laughing whenever I'm waiting for a new episode from Fast Karate,Greatest movie ever, AWO or ATW9000.

I'm a father to be in about 7 months so I'd best get in whatever forum time I can between now and then.

Hey Joel thanks for that recommending magicka despite it bugs it's a lot of fun. Funny thing happened, the scene where the airship crashes actually crashed the game!
  • Well there isn't all that much to me except for the following:
    - Found the show through ads on Anime Pacific and Anime World Order
    - Heard an episode with bad audio but inexplicably gave one more episode a try.
    - Now addicted to this show. (no REALLY I am. I drive down to Safeway JUST so I can download 10 episodes, DAILY!)
    - Been downloading every episode since #1! (currently on August of 2008)
    - I'm in school, a lot. (Graduate school BLOWS! I need a real life)
    - With each episode my humor becomes more and more juvenile (you've transformed me Dave).
    - I love manga, it's doing things that I wish more comics would.
    - The more ridiculous a manga is (like Getter Robo) the better it is.
    - I kind of like lists...
    - Oh and I'm an insomniac.
  • Greetings to you all

I can't remember how exactly I came across the podcast. I work the night shift at the post office and needed something to listen to while I sort mail. This makes for awkward moments when I burst out laughing at something that only I can hear.
I come here for the anime-related content. I haven't played through a video game in several years. Maybe this podcast/forum will change that.
Despite being a product of the Toonami wave of anime fans from the late 90s I can still appreciate material from the 80s (and sometimes the 70s). I consider myself to be primarily a mecha fan, a cadre of people who seem to becoming more and more rare, as well as more and more insane.
  • [quote="Graddick"] a mecha fan, a cadre of people who seem to becoming more and more rare, as well as more and more insane.
Then it's your duty to breed and create more mecha fans. It's the only way to overcome the scourge of moe... :)
  • Hello Fast Karate forum!

I'm Matt. Here's all the standard "Introduce Yourself!" type stuff:
26 years old, living in NJ, found this place via the GeekNights forum. I've been listening to Fast Karate for about 6 months now since having it recommended to me there. I don't watch much anime, and I'm at least 3 years behind on video games (I'm still on the original Dead Space), but the show is some funny shit so it keeps me coming back.

On the personal side I'm a board game fanatic, and while I work as an engineer full time, I do have a side job for MTV as their board game writer for MTV Geek. I also write for Wired GeekDad as an occasional contributor. (I'm expecting my first kid in about 4 months).

As for other communities I am also a NerdNYC gamer, and am on there forums as well as attending most of their events. You can also spot me on the PAX forums (as well as, you know, actual PAXes in person).
  • Hey all.

I'm Dimitri Klimenko (Russian by birth, if you must know). I've been a member here for a while, but I may or may not take a more active role now that you're using Vanilla, like the GeekNights forums (on which I'm active and have been for a few years). I have been listening to the FKFTG podcast for a while, though; I've probably listened to all of the episodes. I'm 21 years old, living in Brisbane, Australia. I watch plenty of anime, but I try to make sure it doesn't suck. I haven't been playing too many vidjagames lately, but I'm sure I'll feel like it later.
  • My name is Neito, and I'm secretly made of candy. Don't tell anyone though.
  • I also somehow used space magic to post from a null account. Awesome.
  • Yo,

By day I'm a college student, by night, secretly a photographer. I do stuff, magazines, local papers. Looking into doing something for the masses in the future but for now I'm all about being a part of the forum community and all that.

Likes (including but not limited to): kamenrider, sentai cartoons, super robot anime (especially all things Go Nagai)

Dislikes: stuck ups and pretentious folk, trolls, and mainstream crap like Twilight.
  • secretly a photographer makes you sound like the creepy guy that takes pictures of chicks in the building across the street at night with one of those telescoping photo lenses

Come on. REAL secret creepster photographers have mirrors on their shoes.
  • Hey there, dudes.

I'm Dave, born in and grew up near Chicago, presently studying Molecular Bio at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Chamapign so that I fulfill the Midwestern Dream-- which is to escape the Midwest. Like some of the other recent introductions, I'm active on the GeekNights boards and decided to get active here now that you're a part of the wonderful world of Vanilla. I've been listening to FKFTG for about four years now, along with GeekNights and Greatest Movie Ever.

I love reading just about anything I can get my hands on (comics, novels, anything), and have a burgeoning t-shirt and board game collection going. I watch a decent amount of anime (Panty and Stocking was the last series I was really into) and movies; I've got a soft spot for kung-fu and chanbara, B-Movies, and late 70s/early 80s films. I'll be spending a year living in the UK next year, and am a bit of an Anglophile. Lately, I've been playing a ton of Bad Company 2 and Minecraft.

As far as not-geeky things go, I enjoy kayaking, hiking/backpacking, traveling, and soccer. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool beer lover and foodie, and I can tell you about plenty of good beers or restaurants, native to Chicago or not.
  • But how much time do you spend in wells?

    Hi new friend!
  • But how much time do you spend in wells?

Depends. Has my rope ladder been taken?

    Hi new friend!
Glad to know I'm in good company!

  • Hi.

I'm Finnish university student and a geek. Have been listening to the podcast for couple of years for now.

I'm a huge lover of video games, those fill my days when nothing else does. I also play table top role playing games and little bit boardgames. So gaming is quite strong in me. I also occasionally watch some animes. My (too small) collection of comic books has given me lots of enjoyment as has and will my self of novels.

I think that's that. There might be more, but seriously, how much me centered text are you willing to read? Not much I'd bet.
  • Hello.

My name is Robb and I'm a 22 year old Canadian smartass and general nerd.

I watch anime, play games and generally troll around on the internet. Also, I'm awesome!

I'm starting a suicide cult and you're all invited. ^_^
  • Suicide is so passé. Now we go mad trying to invent eternal rejuvenation elixirs and spend centuries trying and failing to make really good quiche Lorraine. Our failures make us regret our endless lives, but we are dragged on by the hope of proper quiche consistency.
  • Salutations Fast Karate forum,

I’m Kasey, a CS student living in New York. I’ve been listening to Fast Karate for quite a few years, and am now finally getting around to joining the forum.

My likes are: Saint Bernards, Guiron, and the word Haberdashery

My dislikes are: Miniature Pinschers, Space Godzilla and the word Ginormous
  • Do your dislikes spread to other miniature dogs or are they limited to the unfortunately shrunk Pinschers?
  • Ain't got no love for min-pins??

I think you and I are going to get along just fine.

MIN PINS? MIN PINS? GET DA FUCK OUT OF MY OFFICE WITH YOUR MIN PINS
  • I don't know, I like it.

I'm generally not fan of any dog who happens to be smaller than my cat. My distaste for Mini-Pins comes from four years of living next door to someone who owned one. Those dogs are fueled by spite and hate.

So...what, you have the one happy, spiteless cat in the world?

The min-pin might as well just be a giant mouse that can bark, anyway. I bet your cat could beat it in a fight.

  • (I don't care either way, I just wanted to say "min-pin.")
  • Hi! i'm new
  • I like you already.
  • Hi! I'm a newcomer. They call me William. I'm a fish. I'm Italian but I'm tall, blue eyes, blonde hairs, I hate football (soccer), I dont like pasta (I prefer rice). Almost forgot, I'm living in London since 2007, so don't ask me about Berlusconi.
I like some video games, many anime, Steve Albini, Jawbreaker, Monkey Island 2, my guitar and the music that I'm listening right now... Viva.
  • Northerner, eh?
  • Right, from North East. From a weird city named Trieste. I love potato gnocchi.
  • That city name is oddly close to "triste." I like it.

Potato gnocchi is wonderful, and don't let anyone say otherwise. If they do, strike them about the head. It's important to fight for love.
  • Hi Guys, I'm new here and I believe the slow lorris is the wisest of all animals!

    (
    )
  • Oh noes! They takes mah umbrellah!
  • Internet, this is what you are for.
  • Hey guys, my name's Tom, I'm an English literature student from New Zealand. Love the show and have been listening to it for as long as I can remember, sadly its taken me this long for me to get around to joining the forums.
Playing dem vidjagames is a big part of who I am, and currently I am awaiting with great anticipation the release of The Witcher 2.

Feels great to be a part of the FK forums.
  • To those who don't already know who I am, my name is Heather. I live in Alaska, originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I play vidjya games and watch the anime. I'm Pani's sig. other. I don't talk often, mostly just read what everyone else has to say. So heeeeeeeeeey.
  • Hi Chakandara.
  • Oh lordy, from Cleveland to Alaska? I can't determine if that's an upgrade or a downgrade, geographically speaking. At least you get less snow there...
  • Shouldn't you be eating Red Robin and shooting a moose or something?
  • Are there moose in Alaska? I thought they had caribou?
  • Why am I not surprised you chose Tank Girl as an avatar?

And there aren't any moose in Alaska, at least not for long, because they are shot on sight.
  • Cleveland and Alaska aren't that different, winter weather-wise. It's prettier here with better views and the summers are cool (65-75, tops). We're taking a break from Red Robin... we OD'd on burgers. I only hunt moose in WoW. There are moose in Alaska. I have one that eats the baby tree in my front yard and poops on my stairs -_-

I don't think anyone should be surprised at the Tank Girl avatar, but that's just me.
  • James from Dunedin, New Zealand.
Been listening for a few years and after watching the resident evil livecasts I felt like exploring the scary depths of the forums.
I'm a gamer (PSN trophy level 15 >>) who dabbles in animu (I may have created a anime club when I was in high school that I recently discovered remains successful despite my best efforts)
I also have a bad tendency to talk in plural because I am so used to doing everything with my partner so please excuse me if I do it, I try not to.
  • Tell me how you feel about the fact that the most notable thing from New Zealand is Flight of the Conchords.
  • Tell me how you feel about the fact the most notable thing from New Jersey is the Jersey Shore.
