What Are You Watching / Listening Right Now ?
  • After watching Robocop yesterday, I realized today moviegoers are wusses.

  • Picked up the Alien Anthology yesterday. all 4 movies seem to have 2 cuts, what versions are the best to watch?
  • Apparently Jason Webley is kinda great.
  • Watched a movie called War of the Arrows on Netflix. It's probably the best sniper battle movie I've seen, it just happens to take place in Joseon/Qin Dynasty Korea between archers. Lone dude trying to rescue people from his village who are marched to China from Korea takes on a squad of the general's elite warriors. Loved it.
  • Thanks for the recommendation, I love Korean films!
  • Watching Hyouka. I'm really compelled by it's calm meditative nature and I appreciate it's approach to mystery with low ambitions. It just has subtlety when dealing with its episodic themes as well as character depths and interactions. It's not quite like Mushishi in its serene, low stakes atmosphere but it does hold my attention without pinning it to the ground and handcuffing it while police sirens whale in the background.

    Also,

  • Listening to quite a bit of the Dresden Dolls over the last few days.

    Also,

How is that dude not more famous?

  • New Metric

    New Hot Chip

    New Fiona Apple

    It's a good month!
  • ^It's because he makes actual good R&B, Joel.

I think he is kinda blowing up, because he is collaborating with Kanye and some famous folks. Plus, I heard that song in full on the radio on a saturday afternoon, so hopefully his success is ramping up.
  • This is probably the reason I've been so angsty lately.
  • Has someone been playing that through the wall to your bedroom, or have you been voluntarily subjecting yourself to that?
  • Just watched Chronicle. It is awesome.

  • Japan has done weird things but this is by far one of the most weird. Upotte! is a show about middle school girls...who are actually are all assault rifles. Sure that is weird enough, but it gets worse. For example, in episode one, one of the girls (who is an FNC with purple hair) imagines her teacher "firing" her off and looks like she is about to orgasm. Seriously, what the hell. I guess I'll keep watching to see how absurd it gets.

Being decently drunk, this show is more entertaining.
  • m1 garand is my waifu
  • m1 garand is my waifu

    Panzerfaust-chan is my waifu.

This show is full of gun history, but I can't tell if all the gun history is made up or not, so I'm going to take it as fact.

  • Once you go astral projection you can sometimes go back.
  • lol, I had the sound off and I thought it was a video about astral projection, I kept waiting for the video to start.

Saw Brave and now I want scottish accents in all my Pixar movies. That aside it was more for mothers and daughters than the usual father-centric stories but it was still pretty good. The triplets and the side characters steal the movie though.
  • So according to Upotte!! we lost the Vietnam war because the Ak-47 was better than the M-16, which is completely 100% accurate (sarcasm).
  • I thought Golgo 13 proved the superiority of the M-16 already.
  • There has to be a picture of Golgo 13 holding one of these girls like a rifle. It would be a damn shame if there wasn't. Google image search isn't being helpful.

This show is one of the most amazingly awful things I have ever seen.
  • I would be terrified of those search results.
  • The results just showed either screenshots from Uppote!! or screenshots from Golgo 13. Extremely disappointing.
  • I had no idea what you were talking about...I hate you for calling my attention to it, I hate people for making it a thing.
  • The Manos: The Hands of Fate episode of MST3K. I have never seen this movie before.

That is my favorite MST3K. A life changing experience.

    I'm glad I could help.

I am pumped for the Rifftrax live showing of this and the upcoming HD remaster http://www.manosinhd.com/
  • If any movie deserves a Blu-Ray release it is Manos.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I sent out a mass text to friends like 5 minutes ago and already received messages from over 5 people willing to go.
  • Since I watched Minos: The Hands of Fate yesterday, today I will watch The Creeping Terror episode.
  • So I watched the live-action Speed Racer last night, and damn was that movie a lotta fun; I loved it, aside from all the Spitle/Chim-Chim bullshit, which begs to be cut out. The visuals were eye-pooping, Cristina Ricci was goddman adorable, and the soundtrack was great. Gotta pick this one up on Blu Ray.

Also there's this. I dunno what to call this, but I love it. Reminds me of GITS for some reason, Oshii's in particular.

  • I love the Chim-Chim bullshit, and that movie should have one the Oscar for best barbarian face punch.
  • Listening to the Melvins more than one should as of late...probably because I missed them live when they played here

  • respect the classics
  • Speaking of purple...

  • Just finished watching 'Monster A-Go-Go'. Dear gods that is a bad movie.
  • It's hard to stay sitting listening to this.

Speed Racer is definitely worth having in HD, I love that movie and its crazy visuals.
  • New Public Enemy single:

  • Say what you want about Coleman Francis, but starting off a movie with some necrophilia action is always a good move in my book.
  • Say what I want about Coleman Francis? Red Zone Cuba was really bad. It made for a great MST episode, though.

Speaking of Yucca, I had some awesome yucca fries for lunch. Shit's good.
  • I still need to watch that and the Skydivers episodes, though it looks like neither of those films cast Tor Johnson as a brilliant scientist turned mindless killing machine.
  • The RZA!!!

    Always and forever.
