What Are You Watching / Listening Right Now ?
  • Ive been watching that show Supernatural on netflix. I read some of the episode descriptions of the later seasons and they sound like at some point the show goes to shit. But Ive enjoyed the 6 or so episodes so far. The possessed lake ep gave me for real goosebumps.
  • Watched the Black Panther series on Netflix. Animation's not so good but I like the art design and the fact that the episodes are 10 mins. so it's pretty much jam-packed full of action.
  • Saw The Avenagers yesterday, was not disappointed. Sucks to be America, you guys have to wait till MAY!

    Hahaha...
  • That's cool, we can play our newly released games meantime.
  • And live in America.
  • Pluses and minuses, Creaty and Sub respectively.

Speaking of avengers is it essential to have seen Thor and/or the Hulk movies prior to Avengers?
  • Probably the Thor movie more, as to understand the back story of the main antagonist. Hulk not so much since he's been done over three times now.

Edit: Watch Captain America and Ironman 1/2 as well for maximum enjoyment.
  • Iron Man, Thor and Captain America are the lead ins. SHIELD is the recurring thread through all those starting with Iron Man and ending with Captain America. Black Widow shows up in Iron Man 2 and Hawkeye cameos in Thor.

Hulk had no ties other than the Ed Norton one having a wink and nod cameo by Robert Downey Jr. after the credits.
  • The lack of Norton is kind of sad since that Hulk movie was actually enjoyable.
  • For some reason I really like Norton as an actor, so I'm also kinda sad about him not being in it.
  • "For some reason"? He's a legit good actor, at least I thought that was common opinion, I don't think it's just you.
  • I've heard Mark Ruffalo does a good job too though. Interesting coincidence, this'll make him the second man to play the Hulk to have given a great performance in one of David Fincher's best movies (Zodiac, to be precise; which by-the-by deserved all the critical adoration The Social Network got as well as all the Oscars).
  • Yeah I've seen all the other Marvel characters, just missed Hulk and Thor. Might just rent Thor this w/e.

  • One of my favorite bass lines.
  • Troy knows how to write!

If you like you can start listening at 3:07 .
But the whole album thing is pretty great.

  • I love this so much.
  • Just found out about these guys. Been enjoying 'Let love in' and 'Murder Ballads'

  • That is a really good song.
  • Makes me want to revisit the video collection I picked up ages back. Cave is excellent.
  • Check out No More Shall We Part. It's one of my favorite albums.

  • Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are super great live. You should see them if you get a chance. Probably my favorite song from them:

  • More great music I've been introduced to thanks to Pandora.
  • A few other Firewater songs worth posting.

    Dark Days Indeed

    Some Kind of Kindness
  • Apparently Romani music is incredible.
  • It's pretty great

If you can make it to New York, there's a Django Reinhardt festival next month. http://www.djangobirdland.com/

  • They're no Pussycat Dolls.

O gods I would love to go to that. The band I've been listening to is Taraf de Haïdouks (around 3 minutes in shit starts to get real.)
  • It's been out for a while, but Muppets: The Green Album is fantastic.

I forgot how good 'I'm Going To Go Back There Someday' was.

  • Oh Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

  • The Avengers was amazing.
  • ^Agreed. Everyone should go see it. Holy fuck it was so good.
  • ^^Also my favorite stinger of any Marvel movie.
  • My only real complaint about the movie is that Hawkeye wasn't purple enough.

Edit: I'm sure Paul will find some reason to dislike it. He is Paul after all.

  • also people should be listening to Beastie Boys.
  • Adam Yauch died =(

Of course he did. Apparently it was a totally boring movie where almost nothing happened except when the Hulk did a couple of funny things.

PS I don't agree, although they very clearly expect you to have watched all the other recent Marvel movies. So:

*If you haven't watched any of them but already have an idea of who the characters are, you should at least watch "Thor", because the plot of "The Avengers" is very heavily dependent on it.
*If you aren't familiar with the Marvel characters are and haven't watched any of the movies, then you'll be hopelessly confused.

    ******

Of course there's a shot of Scarlett Johansen's shoeless feet. They even hang a lantern on it by having her pick up her shoes and carry them instead of putting them on.

    ******

It's an interesting "things have come full circle" script, in that the lines are totally something you would expect from Joss Whedon; and yet they don't feel out of place or too-glib, because he learned how to write by reading comic books and the Avengers are perhaps the platonic ideal of a comic-book property, so they talk the way you'd expect them to talk in this kind of story.

  • Been forced/asked to watch asian romcoms recently.Just FYI , I am still the man.
  • The Avengers was amazing.

I was underwhelmed by the whole thing to be honest (should've been shorter), but whenever the Hulk was on screen it was good. Although did he look a little flabby or was it just me?
I was more exited by the after credits scene, I just hope they don't mess up my favorite character like they did Silver Surfer.
  • I'm with you Creaty. I just got in from it and by the time the team was gathering I was starting to yawn and shift in my seat a lot. I liked it, it's just not all that special.

  • I thought Super Best Friends Forever had Gennady Tartakovsky written all over it, turns out it's from Lauren Faust. It's just a couple of shorts from DC Nation for now, but hopefully it'll get its own show.
